Wii issues....No internet....No Netflix...Modded System

I have a bit of a issue. I have a modded Wii system. Just two days ago, it stopped connecting to Netflix. Also it stopped connecting to the Internet Channel. It gives error messages. My brother contacted Nintendo for support and told the guy I had Homebrew installed and the guy immediately told him that's the problem and he couldn't help him further. Which is cool. But I'm being told that it needs to be updated but it can't get on the internet because its modded. I've been searching and I ended up here. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

Does it pass the connection test from the wii setting? Are the channels asking to update, or are they giving a connection error?
