Issue After Issue
I recently purchased a Black Wii with v4.3u installed. I followed the “How to Softmod any Wii” exactly. I followed the recommendation to downgrade to v4.1 and installed all the recommended apps as well. I have the most current homebrew channel installed and USB Loader GX channel. I have been successful in all things so far, but cannot get FCE Ultra GX channel installer to run. When I select it in the HBC, it just hangs at the “Do you want to install” page. I have read that I needed to install IOS58 which I did and then re-installed the HBC. When I try to run the channel installer, it shows I am running on IOS58. I have FCE Ultra GX on the HBC and it works fine, I would just like it installed as a channel, maybe via a forwarder? I read on here that I should install the d2x v9b49 cIOS which I did and am still having the problem. I am now noticing that the USB Loader is no longer seeing the HDD on port 1 or working correctly after the cIOS update as well as another emulator is hanging when I select it, requiring a hard power off to exit. I am not sure if it is a result of trying to change IOS’s or not.
I ran a sysCheck and everything looks to be installed, but not sure if I should change anything to get up and running. It has been 2 weeks and I would like to stop futzing with this and play a few gamesJ Thank you for any assistance.
Issue #1 would be us needing a microscope to read what you posted...
Issue #2 about the forwarder channel for fce, try THIS ONE.
Issue #3 about your HDD, you can revert back to d2x v8 if you need to. Download them from HERE.
Sorry about the font, I copied it in from Word and didn't catch it. Thank you for the channel installer, that worked great. I looked all over and found v1.2 to be the newest, I appreciate it. I see in my WAD folder that I have the 7 d2x v8 wad files in there from when I installed modpak.zip. Is there a specific wad that I should install or mark all 7 for a batch install? On that note, am I supposed to be keeping all these wad files in the folder, or remove them after I install...I have quite a collection in there. Then, after an install like this, do I need to go in and change IOS or select which to load or does it do that automatically? I see that Wiimod is showing my current IOS as 236 right now.
Thank you again for the recommendations!
Install all 7 d2x wads, and the changes will automatically take. Up to you, but I keep a backup on my pc of every wad I install, then delete from my sd card to save space. There is no real need to keep them on your card after installation.
I cannot thank you enough, I am up and running. I did my best to research here and do it myself, but I seemed to be getting further in the hole. I should have reached out a week ago:) Now I have to get my ColecoVision emulator and channel up and running then I will have a Wii I can start enjoying. Thank you again for the help, I appreciate it.
Nah, the reading and experience is good. I bet you learned alot during that time frame. That sort of effort will get you a lot farther in the future than just simply asking to be spoon fed. Glad we were able to help! :)
