Wow.. very cool. If you can get a nand backup from a pre-launch wii, that would really be something.....

Also, I did manage to find a copy of (what I'm pretty sure are) those semi-brick fix disks. I can upload them with the ID changed if that becomes necessary.
Thanks for your input. I couldn't find the iso just a wad file that I convert to an iso which was probably the problem. I am trying mauifrog directions now and will post updates. Thanks again for your help.

ok, so far so good. I just don't want to mess anything up.

I loaded the disc and here are my options not sure which step is next.

I can upload the nand to mediafire for who ever wants it once we are done.

Alright, loads on the first try, cool.

Format a standard sd card 1-2g in size.
    Extract IOS254-v65281.zip
    and bootmii.zip
    to sd:\
Put the sd card in the wii, load the wiimod disc. Select the wadmanager, sd card, install the bootmii ios254 wad.
Then go to the main wiimod menu and select to load another ios, select ios254 and load it. Bootmii should load and you can make a nand backup.
Let me know how that goes.

Mauifrog definitely wants. Just make sure it's before you go gonzo with the entire softmod

Ya... this is a rare opportunity to look at the Wii in a state that (none?) of us have seen yet.

Those wiibrew boys have, but they're a little far and removed from wiihacks --- always good to have an in-house guy like maui to have his hands on it

i have both folders(bootmii & ios254) on root of sd card installed the ios254 wad thru wad manager but don't know how to install or have the bootmii menu show up?
I went into the ios's at the top of main menu and it says there are no ios's installed

On the wiimod menu select "change ios", select ios254 and load it. When the wii reloads ios254 bootmii should load.

If loading ios254 is not working, try loading one of these from the sd card with wiimods apploader

ok, I try selecting change ios and nothing happens. I am trying BootIOS.elf on the root of the sd card right now

update: went thru apploader and selected BootIOS.elf here is what I got

    sd://BootIOS.elf
    Entry point: 0x80A00100
    IOS_ShutdownSubsystems() done
_exception_closeall() done. Jumping to ep now...

The dvd drive is flashing blue

seems like it is stuck. Any ideas what next

I am thinking that the ios254 did not install. Try to install it again, then try the "check ios" function of wiimod to see if wiimod can see the ios254 on the wii.
