issue with playing backups from disc

Hi, all. I am not new to Homebrew, I have had it done for about... 2/3 years now? and have always had problems until eventually everything was perfect. I could play games from USB and disc and play Wii ware channels and what not but recently I've neglected my Wii, being a proud owner of the Xbox 360. A couple of days ago i came back onto my Wii to play some games I backed up which I lost and when I tried loading them I got the message from one game (Donkey Kong Returns), 'DVD timeout error' and manage to actually launch 2 games (New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Rabbids Go Home) but eventually got 'the disc could not be read, please read operations manual.' after the health & safety screen. These games have worked before hundreds of times and i have not changed a thing on my Wii so I am really stumped I have tried using an updated version on NeoGamma but the same error occurs.

    Details:
    Model: 2006/7
    System Menu: 4.2E
    cIOS: 249 (waninkoko's custom IOS)
    NeoGamma R8, R9 beta 45 and R9 beta 56
DVD-R, using IMGBurn at 2,4x speeds

Not sure what else I could give you, but if you need more details, let me know. Thanks.
PLEASE NOTE: THESE GAMES USED TO WORK ALL THE TIME, until now.

Maybe your drive is toast? My Wii stopped reading discs too and it turned out it was cause the drive died (I got it fixed for $60)

redo you wii with the guide on here ^^^ there is a link to it above my post, you can just upgrade your softmod.switch to wiiflow 4.1, run your backups off hdd or flash drive, much cheaper than disc's in the long run! hope this helps ya a bit. cheers

Could be the disc has degraded.

Burnt media tends to degrade over time. How old are your backups? Did you burn them to good quality media? Rip one of your retail games with CleanRip. Burn it off with imgBurn at 4x on good quality media.
