That initial post was not in the thread when I bumped..

Anyway I had used the "softmod any wii" guide when she had first updated to 4.3. Didn't work so I downgraded to 4.1. Just did the guide again to be sure and still have the same problem. New syscheck:

    Spoiler

I don't believe HBC V1.1.2 is recommended. Not sure where IOS232 came from, either. Ultimately bases and revisions for cIOS are OK.

I think everyone missed this part of your initial post. All backups cannot be read from the disc channel unless you have dark/cioscorp installed. cIOS has nothing to do with that. So, in short, your mod is working exactly the way it should. You will need to run your backup games through neogamma. If it helps, you can enable the priiloader hack to be able to move the disc channel.

I have a wiikey2 installed though and backups used to read from the disc channel fine and even with neogamma it spits out the black screen with "unable to read disc" but it knows which game they are when I eject the disc..so could it be my laser going bad? Before recently, I had not used my wii for 2+ years

Try cleaning your disc drive, if that don't work ...it could be be your drive or bad media.
    Burned disc's don't last forever.
