CRAZY lag whilst playing NES ROMS via FCE Ultra GX

I've read a ton, but can't seem to find any definitive solutions. I bought a retro nes controller with the OEM style plug. and bought an adapter that plugs into the GC port.

I get at least a quarter to a half second lag with any button presses. Rendering gameplay virtually unplayable.


Are there any concrete fixes? Frustrated, because truth be told(and as silly as this sounds), one of the MAIN reasons for buying the wii(aside from having something for the wife and little ones to screw around with), was to be able to play alllllllll of these glorious ROM's through it, on the HDTV. So dissapointed at the moment. I'm chomping at the bit http://www.wiiso.com/images/smilies/smile.png Heartbroken, even :(

Any suggestions? I'm sure the hd/flat screen has something to do with it, but could there be an issue the controller or the adapter?

Do you get the lag when you use a wiimote?

I bet you spent a lot of time ripping those roms too!

I think it's my dang tv(flat screen). Tried it on an old tv box, and no lag. No game mode on my flat screen. Danggit.

Are you using composite, or component? Obviously the suggestion I'd make is if you're trying one, try the other to see if any difference. Good luck!

thank you greatly for the advice. I'm about to show my hand when it comes to video output knowledge, but what's the difference and is there a way to convert? Does the wii have component or composite out? Don't laugh, but I just matched the colors of the cables to the back of the tv. Not near my tv so I can't be sure....again, all I know is that I matched the colors(heehee)

Did you match 3 colors or 5 colors?

The connection off the back of the wii only had three colors/cables

That means it's composite.

Ok, thanks. So, someone's prior response above, I CAN plug the 3 composites into just 3 of the 5 component jacks? Obviously red/white go with their matches respectively, but where do I plug the yellow in to?

Could this fix my lag issue, ya think?

Dude, you're making my head hurt :)

Composite: yellow = video, red = right audio, white = left audio.

Component has Red, Green, Blue, red, and white. You'd match the Red with Red (video, in the input I speak of), Green with Green, and Blue with Blue. The two remaining colors like usual -- red for right audio, white for left audio.

Also, if you use component as outlined above, don't forget to set the Wii settings for progressive output (found somewhere on the System Menu settings).
