Wii messed up IOS's I think, please help me!

    Hello.

I have just registered but have used the guides from this site many times before without issue so I'd like to thank all those involved for making such good tutorials.
I have recently acquired a wii that someone else attempted to hack and failed. I followed the 'How to virginize a wii' and then that great guide, 'How to softmod any wii'.
However I cant use the USB loader as it won't detect any hard disk and I have tried many. All of the disks work fine in WBFS manager but not on the wii, it won't detect them.
I ran syscheck and if I upload it and click the 'check with syscheck checker' it just says error.
Can someone please tell me whats wrong? It is probably obvious to those who understand what their reading.
    Many Thanks.
    Phill.

Syscheck looks good, so make sure the drive is compatible and is also plugged into the correct port. Could the port be damaged?

    Thanks Pob.
One thing is that the original hard disk went faulty (got the SMART warning) but I was able to back it up with WBFS manager and restore it to a new disk. However I did not format the new disk to fat32 before formatting it with WBFS manager and cloning the old image.
To be honest though I don't recall ever pre-fat32 formatting the hard disks before and can't help wonder if this is just a precaution.
I'm going to give it a shot and find out. I know the USB ports are ok as I stripped & rebuilt the wii last week. I also know the SATA adapter works as I used it on a different set up several times.
What a head jar! I thank you for your help though.

Nothing is working on this, yet I can follow the same procedure on another 4.3E Wii and everything works fine. I have stripped the Wii back down and reflowed the USB solder joints as a precaution but they looked fine anyway and I have tested the output voltages and all is fine!
I have just restored this back to when I got it with Bootmii and will post the syscheck link in the hope someone can help me here.
One thing is I noticed that this wii can install Bootmii as Boot2 and also as an IOS but all the others I have done could never do the Boot 2 thing, only as an IOS if that makes any odds?
I also read in the Wii Mod system info that my console was a 'Boot 4' (whatever that means) and said it shouldn't be downgraded. However, following the 'Mod any Wii' tut I did downgrade to 4.1.
Help please someone! I will post the syscheck (after restore) link asap.
    Bootmii Info:

    Bootmii v1.4
    stub v1.4
    mini: v0.4

    console id: 02bab5d8
    sysmenu: 4.3E boot1b boot2v4
    nand fs usage: 35.3%

I have got it to see the hard disk in CFG but it wont load the content. I deleted all the IOS's above 200 and then installed others to this point but honestly I'm guessing most of this!

    Spoiler

oh well i guess no one has any ideas?

    Sorry, your right, just impatient!

I have made some progress I think.
I uninstalled all of the 30 wad files in the 'mod any wii' guide' and then batch re-installed them.
The Wii now see's the drive and downloads the covers but it is not loading games, just freezing.
    I'll keep at it!

Yes I verified the files and I have also followed this procedure exactly the same way on other consoles with no issues. In a last ditch attempt I installed the Hermes 222 IOS milarky which was a real pain in the proverbial I must say! However CFG then showed my USB hard disk as being attached but not formatted to WBFS which it is as it works on other Wii's.
So I guess this is a hardware issue although looking at the PCB shows nothing obvious and all the USB pin's output correctly. If I were to take a wild guess I would blame the USB controller chip in the Wii but again that is just speculation. I doubt it is software as I took screenshots of another wii and made this Wii run exactly the same IOS versions and software but it still didn't work.
Never mind. If anyone has any thoughts though I'd still be interested to hear them but for now this one is being shelved indefinitely!
