I've got my wii next to one of my laptops that has archlinux on it. I'd love to be able to just move the USB cord to my laptop, have the harddrive mount, and ssh in to do things like convert .wbfs to .iso and .iso to .wbfs on my NTFS hard drive.
Everything is working well, I just think this could save me a lot of time and file moving if I could just SSH in and do it remotely (so it'd have to be a command line tool)
Anyone do something similar?
I'm not sure about an NTFS partition, but I use wiithon all of the time on my WBFS partition and it works great.
As far as SSH, what I get from your question is you either want to SSH into the laptop and then manage the hard drive. Or you want to SSH into the wii. SSH into the laptop is no problem I have 2 scripts on my laptop. One for when I am on my LAN and one when I connecting from WAN: ssh -X -l "user" -p "port" "ip address. Just make sure that you have X forwarding enabled in your /etc/sshd.conf and that your username is in the SUDOers file.
The latter seems possible as well. Just not with SSH. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing an FTP daemon for the wii. I'm not sure about the security of it(now that I think about it though I might install it and run a Nessus scan). I'm also not sure if you can just upload a game to your partition without some other program working its magic on the file.
Glad to see that there is another Linux user out there! Also, if all else fails you can always run windows in a virtual machine.
The SSH is fine, I've been managing and moving my files for usb loader gx great, it's just converting .iso to .wbfs
Not something I really NEED to do, but something that would be nice.
JWBFS will do what you want, I think. It requires Java, though. I'll keep looking and see if I can find something else. Personally, I think a little command line tool would be nice (I'm a GNU/Linux user as well).
Looks like JWBFS is just a GUI for Downloads - cfg-loader - Configurable USB Loader (the official site) Play Wii Backups - Google Project Hosting wbfs_file. I'll have to look into it a bit more, but I don't need a GUI if wbfs_file works like I think it might. downloadin' it.

I searched the AUR and am installing a few for my arch machine. Thanks everyone! both wit (and wit-svn) and wbfs_file are available from the AUR for any archlinux users.
Yep, I just found that. I got it from this list. It has a nice selection of various backup managers, including some for GNU/Linux.Quote:
