Help with Wii Mod Wad Manager install error

I had softmodded my wii six months ago using letterbomb and installed the hbc and had no problems when I came upon your guide today I decided I wanted to finish the job. So I start with chapter 1 part 3 after reading the beginning and realizing I had done those things. Nand backup goes fine although it made me use another sd card as it said there wasnt enough space on the one I had in the wii which is 16gb only 3gb are used and formatted to fat32, should that concern me? Either way I got the backup and proceeded. Got the modpack and verified it with the md5summer and loaded it onto my sdcard. I also unplugged my external hdd at this point then started in. So I launch wiimod and go into wad manager and not thinking about the buttons I hit A instead of 1 and the first wad installed fine, as did the second (system compatibility test and ios236 wads) but when I did the third one Backup HBC - MAUI.wad it told me to please wait and sat for a while and I figured that maybe it hung up, so I rebooted the wii which I suppose now was a dumb idea, now when I go into wiimod and go into wad manager it shows me the sd card root directory but when I try to select the wad folder it wont go in. I tried deleting the folder and reinstalling, renaming the folder, and eventually putting all the wads in the root directory. Now when I try to install them I get an error msg : Error: (-1) unknown Error Try with AHBPROT mode or an IOS with the correct permissions.

the top corner of wiimod said Current IOS:236 v65535 AHBPROT Enabled

Under the sections "help I cant get the wads to install" I used IOS236 installer and it was successful but it already says thats my ios anyway.

    How should I proceed?

This morning I took everything off of my sd card and reformatted it and put everything back on and tried again with the same result. Maybe I should try a different wad manager?

I have the backup hbc as well as the standard hbc. In the top right hand corner of Wiimod it says "Current IOS 58 v6176 AHBPROT Enabled". That could be the reason why you're having trouble.

So you think I should try to switch to a lower IOS? Also the attachment link is broken.

Do you think if I started over from scratch, reinstall letterbomb and the hbc and all of it would that fix my problem or simply cause more problems?

Do you have Multi Mod Manager as an app on your sd card and hbc? If you can get that I would try this (it shouldn't cause you more problems):

What I would do is update the Wii with one of the newest games (which will make it run on the IOS it should run on without being softmoded) but will stub the IOSes from about 200+. Then unstub them using Multi Mod Manager's Remove stub IOSes feature (if they don't unstub then load IOS 36 then try again then they should unstub). Then load a custom IOS 249v 6943 and on the main menu load IOS 249. Both WiiMod and MMM have their own Wad Managers built-in btw. Even though you loaded IOS 249 WiiMod should say IOS 58 vx AHBPROT Enabled. These are the settings on my Wii and all my apps work fine and all wads install without problems.

Glad to have helped solve the problem.

I don't know if its possible, but a mod may close the thread.
