Unable to Read Disc Error for any retail disc (Wii or Gamecube)

I do have Homebrew channel

Basically, I'm now unable to play any retail wii or gamecube games from the disc channel; I only get the "Unable to read disc" error screen. As far as I can remember, this first occurred about 2 months ago; however, about 3 months ago I was able to play games from discs perfectly fine (I don't play wii or gamecube games often enough to give a precise timeline of symptoms).

The only major change I made to my wii in between these two points was installing a wad for Japanese Ocarina of Time, based on this pastebin: [LINK REMOVED]. I'm not the only person in the world who's done it like this, so I don't see any reason why this should cause any problems, but if anyone knows anything...

Something that I recently realized that could make a difference: this wii was bought used. It was listed in "very good" condition, and until this issue has worked perfectly fine, but I guess it could have been a coincidental hardware malfunction.

sounds like a bad or weak laser, nothing to do with the softmod.

Thank you for the response. A physical problem will probably be harder to have taken care of (I presume I'll have to send it to Nintendo, if they're willing to take a used wii under no warranty with softmod), but it's nice to know what's going on. Thanks again!

Do not send it to Nintendo! especially if it's soft modded, I can actually fix it for you, will guarantee parts and labor.
