New wii fresh out of the box, wants to do some updates...

quick question, about to mod a wii, and i know they say not to allow any updates, i am going to install priiloader, but it is new out of the box and as soon as i set up the internet, it said there were updates... should i let it take that first update, over the web, and then soft mod it, or should i just softmod? it is currently 4.3u out of the box, what updates would it try to do. I have set the time and region, so I am wondering if there are regional updates I should let it do first?

Honestly, having the latest version of (4.3u) assuming this is a United States Wii, you are definitely good to go for a modified piece of happiness.
    1) Check out this guide: LINK!
    2) Follow this guide, maybe read it a couple of times to make sure nothing actually happens during the install process
*Note: Make sure to double check items as it says in the guide, for if there IS actually an error, you WILL know what to expect
    3) After fully formatting your wii, rip a game from your new disc (normally bundled with your Wii) using one of the new loaders included
*Note: You'll learn about those as well
    4) Post a sysCheck in case ANYTHING does not go as planned; however, do this anyways to make sure that further updates will not be required if you wish to do something else with your wii. Do this following this guide: LINK!
*Note: as noted in the guide of HOW to post a system check, please reply to this
thread instead of THAT thread lol.
    5) Along with that, download this package: LINK! (This will double check your directories, and make sure that your wii folder's placing match that of the tutorial )
    6) Wish you luck, and any questions you have, I or ANYONE will be happy to try to answer!

    Skeptical?

So what updates would wii be trying to install. I literally unpacked it today so unless something came out in the last week, I would have thought it was up to date.

Well, the problem is, like most companies, they offer updates to software programming etc, that wasn't originally packaged with the wii. Kind of like the automobile company: a brand new car will instantly come off of the line, with 7 recalls, because these problems cost too much to change several pieces during the fabrication of the vehicle. Same here... They standardize the wii right off the line, and then come up with updates to software, and some updates ARE in fact built just to give you a hard time TRYING to modify it's contents.
