USB Drive indicator light keep blinking... issue?

Hi, all. I have my wii soft-modded using the tutorials on wiibrew.org, and so far, I've been able to get everything (emulators, wiiflow, dios mios, backing up and loading games to a hard drive, etc.) working reasonably well despite only being at this for less than a week, but this is one (probably small) issue that has me a bit stumped. I've tried searching for solutions, but most of the time, people are just discussing using the Wii's drive light as a USB indicator.

In my case, once the USB drive is accessed (a 500GB Seagate FreeAgent Goflex connected to USB0) the indicator light on the drive itself is constantly blinking erratically, even when using apps that are not using information stored on the drive. (The only things using the drive are Wii game backups and MAME). Is this something to be concerned about? I'm a bit worried about excessive wear on the drive if it's constantly being accessed/read from. Anyone else experiencing this?

    And thanks in advance!

Well, that definitely did fix the issue when the Wii is off, as it no longer goes into standby. However, it still seems to be accessing it continously even when playing games that are on the SD card. Still, this is much preferable. Thanks!
