Wii black screens after clicking "start" in game

First of all, I appreciate any help that can be given for my Wii! I followed the Soft Mod Any Wii Guideto the letter twice, and am able to get the games to load into the first menu (start or options) and it plays the music like it is going to play the game. When I press start, it gets a black screen everytime and my controller loses power. I have loaded the games on both a HDD and flash drive, and loaded each drive with WBFS manager and Wii manager formatting trying both WBFS and FAT32 formats. My optical drive quit, so I want my daughter to be able to play 2 of our games (new super mario andmario Kart). I also followed this guide to update cios and it does the exact same thing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't know if it matters, but I do have a disk stuck in the wii right now (New super mario) and it will not eject. I don't think that woudl cause any issues, but just thought I would mention it. Thanks again, Drew

Just for archive reasons, I fixed it. When I was checking out my optical drive, I did not get a ribbon cable connected correctly. I opened it up, connected the cable and boom, it worked. So not having the drive connected, made it crash. This website is awesome!

I had the same problem, but I changed the ios to 250 with a base of 38 maybe try that it worked for me. Hopefully that will help if not let me know and I will try to help you further.

I actually found that when I opened my wii, I had left a ribbon cable disconnected. I connected it back and it works awesome now! I def appreciate the feedback though, I was about read to throw it in the backyard and use it for target practice!
