USB Loader can no longer mount HDD but HBC can!!!
SOLVED: Read last post.
Hello,
Recently I dusted-off my Wii which has:
- System Menu 4.1 (E)
- Wasabu DX no-solder mod-chip
I have an USB enclosure with an IDE hard drive that has a FAT32 partition with several games. The hard drive is recognised by other Wii's as are the games (in wbfs format i.e. .wbfs). I also have a 2GB (FAT32) USB memory stick which is also recognised and can load games from it fine.
I have tried several USB loaders from the excellent "Softmod ANY Wii" guide including Configurable USB Loader, USB Loader GX and WiiFlow. None of these recognise the memory stick or USB HDD in either USB port 0 or 1.
However, the homebrew channel can load apps from both fine (they are formatted as FAT32). WiiMC can also mount and read both devices.
HBC is running on IOS58. Also as per the guide cIOS249 in slot 56 and cIOS250 in slot 57 are d2x-v7-final. I have updated the cIOS using the excellent "d2x cIOS Installation Guide" to v8 to no avail. I downloaded and installed the v8 WADs.
Any help as to why the USB loaders fail to mount the USB HDD when HBC as no problems?
Bit more background:
I couldn't recall if I had loaded the homebrew channel on this Wii previously so I followed this excellent guide:
Guide: Softmod ANY Wii
As I have system menu 4.1 I started the tutorial with the appropriate exploits and followed the guide to the end. EVERYTHING WORKED FINE AT THIS POINT (the USB loaders recognised the drives and loaded the games fine). I however noticed that HBC was running on IOS60 which led me to believe that I had HBC on here previously at some point (probably 1.0.8).
Anyway, I used the IOS58 installer and then reinstalled HBC. At this point the problem described above occurred. Wish I had left it alone!
