Disc channel showing backup, but not playing

Hi! I just softmodded my friend's white 2009 Wii using the Softmod ANY Wii guide by Mauifrog (no bootmii/boot2, new boot1), and I got him a backup of my Super Paper Mario. I told him to play it using NeoGamma, but he said, "Let's try Disc Channel once". We put in the disc, went to the second page (Priiloader is installed) and saw that there was a Super Paper Mario banner. We went ahead and pressed "Start" and I said "Did I install a program ending with CORP?'' We saw a screen that had an error in it. It said that I eject the disc. Now he wants to know if he can play backups from the disc channel rather than his 250GB HDD. I tried to convince him into USB loading (telling games load faster, matter of fact) but he said no. The game (in NeoGamma), system menu, other games etc work, but the game (through the disc channel) doesn't. Now what do I do? (I'm supposed to be a Wii know-it-all to him )

PS: Any loader that can play backup discs using an external DVD writer? That is, something specially for disc loading (ie. NOT uLoader)
Red Wii SysMenuX, Priiloader 0.7, Bootmii as IOS 254, USB Loader GX, uLoader 5.1E with external DVD drive, MauiFrog softmod. HBC 1.1, Backup HBC 1.0.3.

Read my newbies thread. quick answer is no, new wiis cant play disc backups. There was some talk about external dvd drives, but imho, its a waste of time. Physical media stinks on ice.

    Edit-

I reread your post, missed some detail on the first read. If neogamma works, launch game via neogamma. You can use priiloader hack to move disc channel somewhere else and move neogamma (or mauis backup channel) to the place where it used to be.

No, he wants to play backups THROUGH the disc channel. Get it?

Yes I do indeed get it. Without hardware modification or methods not recommended here it's not going to happen. So I made a different recommendation. Get it?

@BluPhant Got it. But is there another channel like the disc channel? (You press Start, and the game starts without any NeoGamma stuff).

Yes. The backup disc channel included with Mauis guide. Which is what I referenced before. I believe it's an autostarting flavor of neogamma.

Wrong belief. The forwarder loads the same old NeoGamma, giving options of what to/not to do. Not a good choice for my friend, he told his sister to launch my Super Paper Mario backup today, and she did something that doesn't make the disc boot up. It works now though, I deleted the NeoGamma config files. Exactly the reason he wanted a option-less channel.
PS: Nobody answered my second problem, how do I use an external disc drive without uLoader?

The one thing you could try, although I personally dont recommend it, is to hit the priiloader setting to force disc channel to use ios249. It's not going to be a perfect solution, but *should* work for most titles.

Again, discs stink, and I know there was some work done w/ external dvd drives back in the day when uloader was popular. But I think the demand is.... nonexistant. If you're that obsessed, get an older drive and huck it in your wii.
