workaround update in COD Modern Warfare

    Hello there,

I have a softmodded Wii (ver 3.4 E with twilight hack, backup loader gamma, homebrew channel, Gecko OS, etc) - PAL version.

I bought a copy of call of duty modern warfare at the store (also PAL) and want to play it, however, the game seems to force an system upgrade before it becomes playable.

In fact, when inserting the disk, it shows a system upgrade icon in the disk channel rather than the Call of Duty game icon. Of course I did not run the upgrade, but I am also not sure how to get the game to run without it.

Now I do not wish to lose the softmodding on my Wii (which I fear I would lose if I did do the upgrade) - I tried to start the game with backup loader gamma, but it did not work either.
Does any of you have an idea what I can do to keep the softmodding on the Wii and play the game I bought?

    Thank you for your assistance.

I'm not sure about this, but I suspect you'll need to create a 'scrubbed' copy of your disc. That's a copy without the update on it. That should play just fine.

I myself only use USB Loader GX. When transferring the disc image to the USB disk using a WDFS manager it scrubs the image for me. You might want to upgrade to a 4.1 system and use the recent softmod tools...

I have somehow a similar question.

I managed to get it working from the first try ... using NeoGamma R7.
I don't know if I have the campaign crash bug ... but that's not important.

What's important is that I'm playing it online. I've disabled Wii24 ... and I'm afraid now that it will update without permission.

When I've prompted the disk, it didn't asked for an update ... and it didn't gave me any errors.

    My question is:
I have 4.2E right now. It's the version default to the game, I think. If 4.3 is released, will I have to update to keep playing it?

Also, what about the "micro-patches"? I've heard that they are updating the game for fixing glitches. Can it detect that it is not an original version and brick my wii?

    Thanks,
    Montana

my friend has a similar problem. His wii is softmodded 4.1e and he installed priiloader and set it not to update from disc or website, now when he tries to play MW3 it says there is an update for the game, when he runs it obviously does not update, and he says it affects his online playing, is there a work around for this.

First off... the last post before yours was in 2009.... ooooold thread you revived from the depths of hell..
secondly.. MW3 had online issues to begin with, the recent multi player update that you are ok to take fixes it.. if you need more info please start your own thread.

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here
