[New Super Mario Bros] Foolproof Guide

    Ok, very simply stated:

I have a softmodded 4.1E PAL Wii, I already ran several backup games, bt I am having huge problems in getting NSMBW run.

I have the "EsPalWii" ISO of the game [I have always had good experiences with Espal backups...] and I tried to launch it with differe systems (NeoGamma R7, NeoGamma R8 ...), but all of them failed (i.e. green screen).

Is there a fool-proof guide which show which are the steps to be followed in order to make NSMBW run properly?? (I tried to figure it out in the 200-pages-main-forum but, hey!, it's not so easy to understand what to do..... :P)

    Thanks in advance.

Both Davepm and pet1's guides work. Many people have been playing this for a while. Try getting one of the releases mentioned in those guides. I've personally played the nitro release as well as the qwiif release.

Ok, thanks guys for your answers.

Frankly and simply stated, the problem can be summarized as follows.

I have always considered myself a decent modder, in the sense that I could never be able to do something "on my own", but I have always been able to follow guides, instructions etc. whithout troubles (e.g I managed to softmod my Wii to play almost every game, form SSBB to MK, etc. - the only exception is GH5 which runs but "micro-freezes" sometimes - well, long story short, I will try to fix it one day - Ah, but I am digressing). Therefore now I have my dear 4.1E, softmodded with NeoGamma R6, R7 and R8, Gecko 1.9.2, BackupLauncher 0.3gamma, etc. etc. etc. Fine

    At least, until last time.

While trying to make NSMBW work, I have followed a sort of "very rough giude" I found on EsPalWii.com, which suggested to upgrade to NeoGamma R8 and to use cIOS 38 R15 as ISO 249.
Fine. I try it and NSMBW still does not work.
<<Oh well, I will look for another guide, for now I will relax a bit playing Ghostbusters, which has always been working since I installed NeoGamma R7>>.
    Well, not exactly...

Result: NSMBW does not work yet, and I also lost Ghostbusters!!!! (now for both of them I get the damn "green screen" and the Error #001).

    Arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

(translation: I will try what suggested here [thanks once more btw], with fingers crossed...)

Yikes man. I'm not usually one to criticize for grammar on internet boards, but put in some punctuation next time, please.

The short answer is that you're using too many codes at once. Ocarina codes have a tendency to conflict with one another: Shorten down the list and you should be good to go.

    Ok dave, thx: really appreciated.

I "stepped back" to cIOS38 rev14 and, actually, at least the older stuff is now working again (e.g. Ghostbusters).
Then, I installed cIOSCORP 3.5 as you suggest in the "main" NSMB thread.

Still, after having installed cIOSCORP 3.5 I have always the same issue with NSMBW: I tried both with NeoGamma R7 and R8 (beta12 if I rememeber correctly) but I still get the green screen->auto-restart.

Am I screwing up something with the setup of NeoGamma (e.g. the alternate .dol or whatever)?

FYI, I have a PAL Wii 4.1E softmodded, and the PAL ISO of the game (I SUPPOSE already patched, like most of the EsPalWii-cretaed ISOs).

i have NEVER, and would NEVER suggest or encourage ANYONE to install cIOScorp.

Its a pointless, dangerous and useless piece of junk.
