Not a single thread here is about homebrew games so can someone point me in the right direction? I've checked out a few sites but the games are....less than desirable.

That's pretty much what they are like I'm afraid. There are, I hear, a few decent games. Check out Wiibrew, that's usually the best place for looking at homebrew apps.

I use Homebrew Browser. You can download games and utilities direct from the HBC.
