Hang on, so the guide didn't give me the latest CIOS? Do you know where I could get this and have a a link for how to install it?
I read that if I do a MD5 Hash check with Wii Backup Manager, I could test the games I'm still having problems with, and of those three, Samurai Warriors 3 and Super Paper Mario were both GREEN, with their titles green too, whereas Endless Ocean's title came up as BLUE afterwards.
I'm a big Dynasty Warriors fan and Senguku(?) Basara just isn't the same, so really want to get SW3 working (SPM would be nice for my nephew), but own Endless Ocean 2 and never play it, so am prepared to delete the first if BLUE means it's a bad rip (it came with a couple of other games on the HDD when I bought the Wii).
For what it's worth, a staff member let me know how to fix the image display in Loader GX: go to actual GX Loader settings and choose the image file path on the SD Card. So that's fixed at least.
P.S. I had a quick play on MH3 last night and it seems okay - not as good as Phantasy Star Online was on Dreamcast, but okay. Do you only recommend not playing because of the lack of online support, or is the game not one you;d recommend?
Nope, I don't think the softmod any wii guide has CIOS on it. It's needed to play backup games. I can help you install it.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry about checking games on Wii Backup Manager, installing CIOS will get every single game working perfectly.
Installing CIOS d2x v10
Download the d2x installer here: http://www.wiihacks.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=98
Then download cIOS d2x here: http://www.wiihacks.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=97
Extract the installer to the SD card's app folder. now extract the cios d2x files into the installer folder.
Load up the d2x installer from the Homebrew channel.
Press A or whatever, til you get to select the ios and base. at the top, make sure to move to the right, til d2x v10 is selected.
Now as for the ios and base, you'll have to install this for several ios.
First, select ios 245, with a base of 36. now install this. You'll have to choose the ios by navigating to the blinking square, and selecting it. It'll install into this ios. Now you'll have to do the same for other ios. refer to this list, and install each one:
1. cIOS base 36, cIOS slot 245
2.cIOS base 37, cIOS slot 246
3.cIOS base 53, cIOS slot 247
4.cIOS base 55, cIOS slot 248
5.cIOS base 56, cIOS slot 249
6.cIOS base 57, cIOS slot 250
7.cIOS base 38, cIOS slot 251
Note: you already did the first one, just install it for the rest of the ios, from 2-7
Once you installed all 7, you've successfully installed the latest cIOS d2x. All your games should work without error. Make sure to update your loaders as well.
Refer to Cjizzle's guide for installing CIOS d2x if you're unclear about this: http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...oles-only.html
Yeah if you need space, delete MH3, it's more of an online game than a single player game. The boss fights require more than one person to take down. It's a pretty complicated game to play. You wouldn't get too far alone.
Let me know if you need any more help ^_^

Thanks, again, but a quick question: why does cjizzle in the guide you linked me to, tell me to download a different file to the one/s you linked? At first, I thought that his was an old guide, but it's dated as being 11 days ago...
ARGGH! This just isn't working. I'm using your advice above, but the only flashing number in the box is 249.
I select that with A and 201, 202, 222, 223, 224, 236, 245, 246, 247, 248, 250, 251 and 254 turn YELLOW (note, NOT GREEN as indicated... but then, not the purple Cancelled colour or red/brown Failed colour either... so I guess yellow's good?).
Anyway, 249 is STILL RED.
Do I choose all those numbers now as you've told me to above? I really don't get this...
Personally, I only installed ios 249, 250, and 251.
As far as I know, it'll always be red before you install. it turns green after the install. then I press B to exit, then go back to the installer and install the others the same way.
Just get at least those three installed.
I just hope you're able to install this. I don't know if you followed the softmod guide or not. I dunno how hacked your wii is, or how old the ios' are. re-softmodding would gurantee success.
Edit: after installing each, just press A to return to the menu, not b. I'm currently reinstalling each one myself, as I missed installing most of them. For some reason, I can't select base 36.
Buying a virgin wii an softmodding it yourself would be better than buying an already softmodded wii, where you can't determine when and how it was softmodded. If you paid extra for it, then I'd say you're at a loss.

Luckily, it was from a mate's mate who needed cash - so I got a good deal on the console... plus it was soft-modded!
I had problems with the Shopping Channel update as part of the soft-mod guide, and it turns out that the reason I couldn't use your guide was because some files kept getting a FAIL (which I hadn't realised at first).
Note: if I got MD5 hash fails on the shopping channel program, it's more my computer than the files you linked me to.
I used the files linked in the linked guide though, and it worked - easy, straight-forward, no fuss.
But I still can't play SW3 or SPM... so I'm assuming that the SPM is just a bad rip and SW3 likewise. I read elsewhere that there was a bad version of SW3 going around and will ask my mate where he got the game, since he put it on my external HDD for me.
My guess is that he downloaded the bad version. I normally buy used games and rip them... then give them to a friend or relative. Playing from an external is the FUTURE! No more scratches, no more swapping discs or having to store them. I don't know why developers don't have a download option when buying - it would keep manufacturing costs down (but unfortunately, kill the physical shop area of the games' market).
Okay, so after the minor panic attack with the CIOS update, I have something else.
Yes, I was happy with the resoft-mod - my Wii doesn't crash all the time now - and it solved all of the problems I had with the games which did actually work, but...
...now that I've updated the CIOS to the latest (10Beta - the last on the linked guide above), I've found that when I press the HOME button, I get JAPANESE language instead. This is completely random.
Also, the Kirby which I finally got going after the re-soft-mod, will now not play. The game which was in ENGLISH before, now loads up in JAPANESE and then the screen goes WHITE after the instruction to hold the controller sideways.
This is the weirdest bug I've ever seen. Can I undo the CIOS 10Beta somehow? Is it possible to put the version 8 (or whatever I had when I re-soft-modded) back on?
Sorry to be a pain, but just when I got over the fear of bricking my *almost* fully functioning Wii, I got over-confident, put some untested Beta junk on it and now have this super weird Japanese/NTSC (probably why the screen goes white) bug.
xD now that's way beyond me. Is your wii natively from Japan? Try going into system settings, an change the language. Also, in your usb loader settings, set the language to either system default (If it's English), or English.
I'm glad you did the softmod process, now you know it's softmodded for sure.
What you can do about the cios, is to install an older version, v8. I have v10 myself, an all my games run perfect, including spm.
About bricking your wii, I'm sure the softmod guide got you to backup your wii's nand file, and create a brick protection (installing priiloader). Then you'd just have to take your nand.bin, keys.bin, and bootmii folder an back them up onto your computer and remove them from the SD if you want. They'll serve as your unbricking files.
Edit: It'll be a good idea to post this Japanese problem in the softmod any wii guide.

To be honest, I can't say 100% that it is a PAL/UK Wii, but I assumed it was. All the options and settings run in English, it's only when I press HOME button... and it's not all the time, only 50% of it.
The Kirby won't load at all - it's always in Japanese and crashes... but it's great to know that I can patch the stable wads back in. Phew! I was worried about that, and new to all this, had to check.
I'll do it ASAP and report my findings here.
Please note that I used the download: dx2 v10 beta53alt wads and that my Wii is v4.1 (but I cannot see an option to confirm that it's PAL).
EDIT: This problem didn't come from soft-modding - everything was better than fine then. This problem started after I installed the CIOS upgrade pack.

You'll know exactly what region your wii is based on the letter behind the system firmware. You can be 4.1E (For Europe), 4.1J (For Japan), or 4.1U (For American).
Hmm, can be a chance that the kirby game is the Japanese version. In the loader settings, you can choose region free I believe.
If I were you, I'd post the whole Japanese issue on the softmod any wii thread, hopefully someone can identify the problem.
Best thing to do right now, to get help, is to run a system check. Then post it in the sys check thread. They'll see everything that's installed on your wii and will tell you what you're missing. It'll basically let them know every detail about your wii.
HOW TO RUN A SYS CHECK
WHERE TO POST THE RESULTS
I wish you luck, hopefully they will solve your problem. If you want, post your results, then post your problems beside it.
