    Mario Sunshine stopped working

    Hello there,
This is my first post here, I was reading wiihacks forums for sometime now, and I decided to register and post my first message explaining some of the problems I'm having right now.
    Ok, Some background:
    I have a hardmodded 3.4E PAL wii - I installed HBC and neogamma (for now, I'm using R9 beta 37, IOS249 (rev 20) ).
So, I burned mario sunshine (verbatim dvd-r 2x) and It worked like charm the first time. (directly from the disc channel, no neogamma needed)
The next time I tried to play the game, I wait for the game to load and then I get a black screen with this error:

    Spoiler

My first thought was that "I had the same error with SSBB and I succeeded to make it work using neogamma", so I tried using neogamma to play Sunshine, but there I get the error "1189" which, surprisingly, I couldn't find much info about it.

    I hope I'm clear enough.
    Thanks.

Never heard of that error either, but it sounds like a general disk read error and the message from the disk channel seems to support this assumption.
How much actual playing time did you have when you got it work the first time?
Have you tried to burn another copy or play the iso from a usb device?
Check that the disk isn't scratched or smudged.

I found this post http://www.wiihacks.com/dumping-burn...89-1337-a.html mentioning the error, but not addressing it.

I also thought that it was probably because of the disk, but how can you explain the fact that I managed to get rid of it with SSBB using neogamma?

I, probably, managed to play for like 2 - 3hours before stopping (note that I got the error the next time I wanted to play and not while playing)

No, I didn't try to burn another copy because I have the same error with other games too (and as I said I managed to get it work with SSBB, so it's probably not a disk issue IMO)

About usb device, I didn't setup the needed homebrew to get this working, do you think it is more reliable than DVDs? should I invest some time/money to get a good HD drive and get it working?

You can use neogamma to load from a usb device, I was using an 8 gig flash drive and formatted it to wbfs. The option is there in neogamma to load from sd or usb.
It may be a sign of gradual hardware failure from the dvd drive and some ppl hav ehad success by cleaning a lens and/or laying the console down flat or standing it up, depending on what they are not currently doing.

If you play alot of games from disc, perhaps a lens cleaner is in order. But I would also try to reburn the game to another disc, a good quality disc. As for USB, that is not an option with Gamecube games, unless you have a Wode or simular device.

I wonder if the issue is with the hardmod?

also, you may want to burn at 4x speed, I think that 2x is too slow.

Neogamma would work without a cmios?
I know some of the details here are missing, but did he say anything about it and wouldn't neogamma need it as well? That is if the intention was to utilize softmod because hardmod was possibly failing.

Also moving this post to the gamecube section, where it should be.

With a hardmod, no cMIOS is needed. I don't know if NeoGamma requires a cMIOS to operate. I have been kind of following the NeoGamma thread, and WiiPower states that the MIOS can be used with retail discs, which is where the hardmod comes in, treating the backup like a retail disc.

The OP should look in my signature and get NeoGamma r9 b45, in the GC settings, set the loader to use the MIOS, not the cMIOS. I think that is possible.

    NeoGamma's different GC modes

I would lean towards a mechanical error though, like a dirty lens, or a bad disc.
