Well, I think maybe the OP should try to install the gamecube softmod essentials to rule this out and be certain the other options are 100% available and not have something left to chance in the softmod area, especially if the harmod is failing as what it sounds to be.

I know some of the details here are missing, but did he say anything about it and wouldn't neogamma need it as well? That is if the intention was to utilize softmod because hardmod was possibly failing.
I managed to get many games (naruto, SSBB) work thanks to neogamma that weren't working directly from the disk channel.
At first, I installed neogamma to avoid updating via disk (which will brick my wii) and it worked for some games... testing sunshine with neogamma was done just because I had the same experience with SSBB and it worked.

I don't think it's a disk reader issue, most of the games are working just fine.
I was thinking, maybe it can be related to IOSes not being updated or something like that? (a software issue)

Yea ssbb is a wii game and mario sunshine is a gamecube game. They use different sotmod resources to run.
Look in stomp's signature at the getting your gamecube games to run and try that.

GC games do not use IOS, just MIOS. If other games work then I would say a bad disc. You can follow my guide, just install the supplied cMIOS and use the latest Neogamma.

    Great!
Thanks guys for the quick replies.
I'll look into this in the coming days - I'll try to update the thread once I get this working or for further "investigations"
