Star Wars The Force Unleashed II review

    Story
Just as in The Force Unleashed I, the player once again assumes the role of Starkiller, who has been cloned by Darth Vader (or at least, that is what Vader claims). The story is quite short and doesn't add much to the game, which is a bit of a shame. The story in The Force Unleashed I was better in my opinion. On the other hand, it could have been worse and it isn't a bad story either, just a bit plain.

    Score: 6/10

    Controls
The controls have changed quite a bit. The wii remote now serves as a pointing tool, to direct you attacks. Attacking with the lightsaber is simply done by pressing A. Swinging the wii remote will launch a special attack, which gets stronger as the force meter increases by attacking enemies, the strongest being unleashed, which will kill almost anything in a reasonable area.
The direction pad on the wii remote is used for special force powers (mind control, force dash, force range and force sight).
The nunchuck is used for the 'normal' force powers, like repulse, force lightning, force push and so on.

Whether this change is an improvement, is quite hard to say.

    Score: 6/10

    Gameplay
The gameplay is far more focussed on using the light saber than the Force Unleashed I. In fact, fighting by using the lightsaber has become the main fighting mode. One thing I do need to note here, is that I think the player is overpowered. For example, force rage will kill any enemy you target (you can target 4-5 in one attack) in one single attack, except for enemies carrying shields (which you can remove by using force grip first), or bosses. Even without force rage, the player is still overpowered. The game isn't as challenging as The Force Unleashed I was.
Furthermore, the game is quite short, even to my standards, which are quite low. If you want, you can finish the game in less than a day.
    Score: 5/10

    Music
The music is much like The Force Unleashed I, so there is little what can be said about it. It isn't great, but not bad either.

    Score: 6/10

    Design
The design has changed as well. While The Force Unleashed I took place in about 50% outdoors and about 50% indoors, The Force Unleashed II takes place mostly indoors. That is not bad in itself, but it is really apparent that a lot less effort was placed in the design of The Force Unleashed II. All the levels look a bit plain if you ask me.

    Score: 5/10

    Over conclusion
The Force Unleashed II isn't a bad game, but it certainly isn't what I had expected it to be. Looking back, the Force Unleashed I was simply better and more enjoyable. If you are thinking about buying it, I would recommend waiting until the prices drop a bit.

    Final socre: 6/10

good review I'll click thanks when available.
I got the collectors edition on the Xbox I can agree with what you have wrote above.
I expected a lot more game hours than what I got, it was too short for my liking and the story was not as good as expected either.
My main disapointment was prior to its release I saw the teaser trailers with Boba Fett in them. I really wish he was more involved in the game (maybe even a duel between Starkiller and Fett)
I'm sure in the first game the levels were more breakable, as in you could destroy more stuff.

Overall I did enjoy the game even with its downsides, I suppose being a Star Wars fanboy I would love the game even if it where a real poor one.
Really happy with my 2gb Starkiller USB drive (size matters not - )

I agree with you that in the first game the levels were more breakable. You could destroy just about everything (which was fun, because I just like destroying things :P). I enjoyed the first game quite much, even though the reviews about it were bad, but this one really dissapointed me. I would have liked a duel between Boba Fett and starkiller as well, I was really expecting it. I am a bit of a Star Wars fan too, although not a very big one.

Yeah, same here. I really enjoyed the first one. Later, when I read reviews, I was suprised to see they were bad. But this one really dissapointed me.
