Hasbro Family Game Night/Wii Fit Plus

(I originally posted this in the "What IOS do you need to run a game" thread and I realize it probably should have gone here, my apologies)

Trying to run Hasbro Family Game Night 1 via USB Loader GX, got a black screen. Checked what IOS is needed, saw I already have it installed, re-installed just in case, still getting a black screen. Any ideas? Also Wii Fit Plus still locks up for me after the safety screens. I can still play both with the original disc but that kind of defeats the purpose of a backup HD.

so maybe you browsed some pages of the IOS thread, i explained there that for backup loading via a softmod loader only your cIOS is used. by installing the IOS the game needs you made sure you don't get problems with your originals when playing through the discchannel.
if you really want to stick to gx get the latest supported version 938 (Downloads - usbloader-gui - Project Hosting on Google Code)
you have any idea what your cIOS setup looks like ?
How to post a syscheck: Instructions here

--> get the recommended setup from the cIOS as wads thread linked below.
would recommend to switch to cfg usbloader anyways.. likely that fixes the problem already
    Guide: Installing CFG Loader

I didn't realize GX was outdated, CFG Loader is a lot nicer, thanks.

    Here's my syscheck:

syscheck looks ok. have a look in the FAQ of the basics link below.
try different cIOS, set videomode properly, have a look at the problematic games list.

Neither game seems to be in the problem games list, I did notice that CFG loader is showing Family Game Night as a dual layer, that couldn't possibly be right could it?

*edit* I see it's not, I reloaded the game and it's showing .25 GB instead of 7.75 GB. No wonder the game wasn't playing, holy crap.

This is unbelievable, I swear I have the worst luck with this stuff. Just when I had everything working I exited out of a game, went back to CFG loader and now every game I try to play gives me "wbfs panic: error reading disc". The Wii then freezes and I have to reset.

When I have the HD plugged into my PC it shows all the games, and CFG and GX show the titles, just nothing when I try to load one. Is my HD hosed or do I need to reinstall something? I can't believe my drive would just up and die, I don't even leave it plugged in the outlet when it's not being used.
