    Another Xenoblade Chronicles Issue Post

So I've searched most of the forum and several others and all people ever have issues with is the game freezing after getting it started. I haven't even gotten that far yet. I have three rips of this game, an NTSC-U.wbfs, NTSC-U.iso and PAL.iso. I've tried working with all three using WiiFlow, USB Loader GX, NeoGamma and Configurable. I modded my wii with laffer's guide. My HBC says I have IOS58 v24.32. If there's more info you need that I'm forgetting, please tell me.

I want nothing more than to play this game. It's the one game I love above all else and it's driving me insane not having been able to finish it. I've played it on two different softmodded wii's using WiiFlow without any problems whatsoever but I could never remember the stats or settings on either.

I still have all three dumps but the one I'm currently playing with is the NTSC-U.iso. It's on a WBFS formatted flash drive and all of the loaders recognize the game. Running on each they end up on either a Reading Disc... screen or with a black screen and a white loading bar that barely makes it an 1/8 of the way and stays there.

EDIT: So I went through ModMii to update all my stuff. I finally got Wii Backup Manager to put the .iso rip onto the flashdrive with no problem. Now I can start WiiFlow and install and initialize the game but after the loading bar completes, the screen flashes "Reading disc..." After some research, someone mentioned to force it in English through the WiiFlow settings. It doesn't work. In another thread on a different forum, a staff member said that after updating with ModMii, I should be able to run Xenoblade with just the default settings or the iOS on 249/250. Neither of those end up further than the "Reading disc..." flash. Hopefully once y'all can help and I get this running, this thread'll be archived for others who are having the same issue but also like me, couldn't find a thread that could help.

EDIT2: Now I keep getting Code Dumps. For Pete's sake is anyone online that can help?? I know staff members have their personal lives, too, trust me, I've been staff/admin for forums myself, but damn. It's driving me crazy being this close to the greatest game to ever come out for the Wii and yet still hitting a brick wall again and again.

Have you tried playing the game off of the original disk to make sure that works properly?

I would remod your system with Softmod Any Wii guide, including optional IOS Update to make sure that is current and in case that got messed up by ModMii or anything else that you did that no one told you to do.

I would also check FAT32 guide as none of us will suggest using WBFS formatted USB devices anymore.

I wouldn't have three different rips if my original disc was still intact

"...you did that no one told you to do." Yeah except for the fact that usually the first thing any Staff would say is, "Did you search before you posted?" or something like that. I was trying to exhaust all my options considering I followed your guide and everything single setting and mix of settings I tried didn't work so of course I tried something else other than the guide. Redoing the guide would be pointless at this time unless you actually had something to suggest other than try again considering I've spent all but 5 of the last 28 hours trying everything I can and that I only strayed from your guide in the last 6 or so hours.

I'm not saying the guide itself doesn't work. I've followed it many other times softmodding other people's wiis and it worked fantastically. What I am saying is that even with the most updated iOS and such, I can't get this damn game to work.

I'm trying to exhaust all the usual troubleshooting tips so you guys can help me faster and not have to put so much effort into my stupid issue.

Also, I went back to FAT32 before ModMii and now it's a bit easier to get the games on the flash drive but not any easier getting them to run.

    What else you got?

You expect much, and give little in return. Your attitude, although colored by frustration --- understandable as that may be --- is a bit strong. Saying as little as you did in the first post, llaffer's instruction was solid. Your gave so little and expected anyone else to fill in the blanks. ModMii often can wreak havoc on a Wii.

I saw no SysCheck proffered, and saying the following:

Is no proof in the pudding and tells us next to nothing. So the question I will (re)ask: did you follow instruction as given? That means 1. REMOD; 2. DO install the updated IOS pack. The fact you mention WBFS formatted devices only illustrates the deviation you mention. If you have done so, are you willing to post a SysChecK showing this? The link would be in llaffer's signature.

Doctors can be the worst patients; forum admins can be the worst users. They may not mean to (either example), but that doesn't negate the truism.

Since you have no working physical copy, this crosses the line into piracy, which we do not endorse.

Nightstah: Fine, working on it now.

laffer: What do I have to do, go through my local landfill and find my receipt from months ago and scan and post?

So is that a "no, I ignored his advice but I'm doing it now" or is that a "yes, generating the SysCheck right now showing the IOSUpdate pack and to-spec softmod following the guide"?

More like "yeah, I ignored him being a dick when he didn't need to be but I'm doing it now since you are actually being respectful and I believe you actually want to help."

I don't have the money. I'm reverting back to softmodding my wii because I'm broke.

EDIT: Besides, I was under the impression that getting a rip after actually buying the damn thing was a grey area.

Warning: It is illegal to obtain/distribute backups of games you do not own.
