Wasabi DX + US Wii + PAL Disc 4.3 update = :(

So long story short I now have a semi-bricked (system menu error) US Wii that is on 4.3 which came from an update off of a very recent release PAL disc that an acquaintance of mine ran while I was otherwise occupied.

Now I know that the simple fix for this is to just update in your region and I accept that I've lost all my homebrew capabilities for the time being, but my question is that if I pick up a copy of say Sin and Punishment 2 in store this week when it comes out will I be able to pull the NTSC update that I need to unbrick my console from that? Or am I SOL until the next newest update comes out?

Can you please tell us what game it is? Also I don't think it will prompt you to update if the 4.3 E already went through. Could be wrong though.

It was a PAL copy of Sin and Punishment 2.

I was afraid that was going to be the case where the Wii won't recognize a lateral "update" to the proper region.

Any other suggestions or points in the right direction?

sins and punishment 2 only contains a 4.2 update, NO current discs have a 4.3 update.

If you updated to 4.3, then you did it on the wii with the online update, NOT from a disc.

That's what I thought...the user told me the Wii wasn't connected to the Internet so I was curious.

Interesting. There was no way that I was connected to the net but I also would have bet a good deal of money on the fact that I was already on 4.2u. However, since I can't get into my system menu I can't verify that I'm now running 4.2e.

Regardless, I'm still left with a semi-bricked Wii; and since I've already lost homebrew and the ability to play out of region discs thanks to the S&P2 update then there's no reason not to update to 4.3u online when I get home and clear up the semi-brick, right?
