I dont think i have preloader/priiloader no. I have never needed it before on any other backups and have always just added ISO's and ran games via Neogammer. I will look into this preloader, thank you once again
I have found the way to play SMG2 on a dutch wii with the NTSC iso!..
Yeah i know the pal version is out yet!
Use WIU to patch the iso from NTSC to PAL
Patch the update!
Then you open the iso with wiiisorenamer
Rename it from SB4E to SB4P !
and install ios56-64-5405 manualy
I have Wiikey 1 and 4.2U (most current Wii update) (NTSC). I'm using Gecko 188.8.131.52 to load the backup disc.
I was able to start the game via Gecko and play well into World 2 (several hours of gameplay) when I all of a sudden got the "The disc could not be read. Refer to the Wii Operations Manual for details" error. When I originally tried to load it through the game channel I got the same error which is why I went to Gecko.
When I try and restart the game I can start playing, but within a minute I get the same error. I retested my backup of New Super Mario Bros., but that game still plays fine with no error.
Is there a reason why this error would come up now, and is there a work around?
I've finally needed some advice on these forums. Usually I give it when I come on here. lol. OK so here goes:
My friend has a softmodded Wii, nothing's out of date and he can play back-ups from both disc and HD except 2. The Mario Galaxy games. Now this isn't because the disc won't load but because there is absolutely no sound what-so-ever as far as in-game.
I've been thru every possible fix I could think of and now I have to turn to the almighty WiiHacks community. What could cause this? I'm clueless at this point. Oh btw, EVERY other game (old or present) has in-game sound except these 2...
Any help is always appreciated...
13 Wii's, 6 PS2s, 17 PSP 2000's, 7 PSP 1000's, 1 XBOX360's, & 3 iPhone's hacked and counting...
Yeah buddy, rollin' like a big shot.
for those who get the same error message, i just used wiu to change iso region to ntscjap and patched the update. i further renamed the iso using wiiisorenamer to rb4e01. this time, i got further into the game, but got the same error message 'disc could not be read - refer to wii manual....' just as i was about to face the first boss (the big flower guy).
Hey my kid played the game and did the system update whle I wasnt home and now some of my apps, particulary wii dvd dumper aren't working anymore. ANyone have an idea why and how to fix it?
Hi, new to the forum and a bit of a noob with regards to the Wii, in that I have owned one for a couple of years but not really used it that much.
However with SMG2 coming out I have started using it again.
My Wii has a D2C chip and has 3.1e firmware.
Will SMG2 work with my current Wii settings if I buy a backup copy from one of the backup sites?
Also, if I was to buy retail, will it make me update the firmware?
One last question, should I update my firmware anyway, and if so what to?
I have read this whole thread hoping that somehow I could find a magic wand to fix my SMG2 game. Long story short, I eventually got it working. So thanks to everyone here who has posted and tried to help the less fortunate. Herewith my experience and details.
I am running 4.1E Softmod. I had various other games working, just this one didn't work. I had the blackscreen problem just after launching the game. When I turned off the 002 setting, I got the 002 error, so it "seemed" to be working just fine. It turns out, my ISO was "corrupt". So ensure that you have valid ISO. I don't think there is way you can tell before downloading and even after downloading, there's no way for sure.
The best way I found and something I noticed to know if my ISO is corrupt or not - when you click on the game the first time in USB Loader GX, the game should play it's "jingle", i.e. Mario screaming "Super Mario Galaxy!" If it doesn't, don't even bother going further, the ISO is corrupt.
By the way, the error happened on USB Loader GX, NeoGamma R8 and Wiiflow Light.
Hope this helps someone going forward just as all the posts on this forum have helped me.
Thanks once again.
