Thanks, works perfectly, very easy to follow guide and quick too. i would advise installing bootmii before doing any of this and making a nand backup just incase you mess up and brick your wii.

Hi, and thanks for the guide.

Before i risk everything, and as there aren't that many replies saying 'yay it guarenteed to work', can i just check a couple of things off before i attempt it.

I have a LEH25 with WasabiDX that was on 4.1 previously but the missus didn't realise she shouldn't upgrade.
Will using the patched files mean i end upp with slightly 'soft modded' wii or does this replace the genuine files? i.e will my wii become basically a virgin 4.1 wii?
Mine doesn't support bootmii to boot2, only ios. Is it even worth doing it?...... so how dangerous is this process?

If i can get away with it, for the time being i'd like to have as close to factory as possible, as I don't fancy investing time in keep needing or getting hooked into upgrading my wii constantly (as i'm sure i would), but need 4.1 for the region free.

thanks and sorry for the questions, I just want to dot the i's and cross the t's before taking the plunge!! the last thing i want to do is become one of the noobs with a bricked wii.

Hey I was just wondering what is an IOS? Is this only something you have if you have the homebrew channel?

My situation is I have a PAL wii with drivekey. It still has 4.1 firmware I havent upgraded yet to 4.2 but I cant play mario galaxy 2 - getting blue screen

It was suggested in another thread to upgrade to 4.2 and then downgrade to 4.1 and that could make the game work but I am stuck at this step because I dont know what an IOS is.. Can someone please help out

    Cheers

All you need to do is follow the instructions in the official SMG2 thread by Ithian, you can find a link within the "Games Won't Load" link in my signature. Info on IOS can be found by searching the site and google. Games and the system menu use a certain IOS to run. They are the main operating system of the wii so to speak. Don't take the 4.2 update it is NOT needed.
    Damn I suck!!!!

    Hey frog,

Sorry if i appear ignorant - but just to clarify; do I need to have any other form of software installed on my PC/Wii to be able to utilize this guide. Cause currently all I have is a fresh out of the pack SD card and my Hardmodded Wii. Is this all I need?

if you are following a guide to soft mod your wii then you need to put the files that they tell you to download on to your sd card and follow the steps to the letter as they tell you and you will have no probs.

So is this a form of softmod exu? Cause i was hoping to do as little as possible of that. And if i follow these steps with a hardmodded wii with no softmod stuff on it, as well as a fresh SD card this should work?
