I just finished downloading and burning Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars NTSC using IMGburn.
I have the D2Ckey modchip installed. Wii system version: 3.4u
When I click to start up the game, it goes into a blank/black screen. Pressing any button on the wiimote makes all the blue LEDs on the controller to light up.
Do I need to update the system or do something differently? Please help! I love this game
All you need to do is do a disc update. You are missing the IOS needed to play the game. It should put you on system menu 4.1. DISC UPDATE ONLY, NO ONLINE UPDATE.
You might have to burn another image as well though. If the game that you downloaded is unscrubbed, then you can do a disc update an not burn another game. But if you downloaded and it is smaller than 4.37gbs in RAR format, then you need to look for an unscrubbed one, burn it, and then do a disc update with that. Make sure it is NTSC-U when updating.
i'm quite the newb when it comes to the Wii mod scene. I'm not sure what you mean by the 'IOS' to play the game. Also, where would I be able to find a disc update?Quote:

No you don't need it to softmod it. A disc update is when you update through the disc channel. Not online. Like I stated earlier, it has to be in RAR format and still be 4.37gbs. Yours was in RAR and was NOT 4.37gbs it was 1.41gbs.
You have two methods. Find an unscrubbed iso and do a disc update, or you can softmod your wii. Both methods are easy. Softmodding it is much easier in my opinion. Plus when you have issues like this in the future, you can just install the IOS via wad manager instead of doing disc updates.
I think I'll just softmod my wii. since i'm currently on system 3.4u, I am assuming I have to use Dogeggs' guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html
out of curiousity, so with the softmod does this mean that the money I spent on the hard mod D2Ckey was useless?
No it wasn't useless. My wii is softmodded with a wiikey 2 in it. I use the softmodding to install IOS so that I never have to do updates. My firmware is still 3.2U and I am able to play just about every game I put in. If it black screens, I just look for the required IOS and install it then the game will play.
I apologize for my newbie-ness, I also have the same problem on Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars NTSC on my wii. I have someone install my modchip but not sure what chip he installed. It's not wiikey for sure because I bought my wii about 2 years ago and wiikey didn't support it.
Anyway, I have the same problem (I think)... it will load the splash screen and I hear intro music. But it goes to black screen after clicking on start....
I guess I need an update since I am on ver. 3.3U and older games RE: Umbrella Chronicles will play fine.
Can someone please post link to properly update my Wii?

my issue was with a black screen (no sound) once I clicked on start game from the wii menu, so it is a bit different from your problem.Quote:

Older games work fine... the newer games like Punch Out, etc are not working... I see the title screen and music; but it goes it Black Screen after selecting Start
That's why I am assuming I need to update cIOS or some kind of firmware
