Hey guy's i no it's been a while now that Super Mario Galaxy's been out but just recently i borrowed it off my friend, burnt it and try to play it. only to realise it freezes on the second cut scene i think it is on a U.F.O. now iv'e spent ages looking on diffrent sites for diffrent fixes to find none of them really worked for me.

But what i done was re-formated my portable Hardrive/U.S.B storage device to the format eXfat insted of it's original setting NTFS(default)
Once youve plugged in your hardrive/usb into your computer simply right click it through my computer and click, Format..

Im running a PAL version of the game and i found reformating the settings of the hardrive solved this for me.

I hope it works for you too.
