Question What do you think of WMP 12?

I just got a new laptop with Windows 7, and I was surprised to find a new media player. I loaded it up to see what's new. It wasn't long before I hated it. Everything is out of order, the tabs were gone, and Now Playing is in a different window.

So do you share my hatred, or do you like WMP 12 (because you are weird)?

PS: It is only available in Windows 7, so there if you are a Vista user (or something below) you won't be able to test it (trust me, that's not a bad thing).

It had the same problem I had with every version of WMP. At some point the database becomes corrupted. I hate WMP! I didn't think the layout was that bad though.

Yes it's great. It's plays all movies and music with shark007 codec pack. It comes in x64 flavor. It's built right into Windows 7. It looks like Windows and 7 and not like Windows 3.1 Like VLC does. I don't use any thing inside of it like the libary because the start menu has pop out boxes and I can just click the file there. I'm very organized. I don't have every song I own in 1 folder. Media Center is great too. And Internet Explorer 9 RC looks and works great. Now if we can get rid of java and adobe. The web will be safer.

VLC can be easily skinned and has many skins to choose from. It plays everything without the need for any codecs and has more options than WMP.

The only version of WMP that I loved was v10. I loved the look and the layout. I wasn't very happy with v11, but it was far better than this piece of crap that comes with Windows 7. I'll look into VLC since I can't downgrade.

Really? I never had a problem with the DB. Even if I had, there is an option to remake it.

You can't install a version of WMP that is lower than the built in one.

I tried installing a patched IOS on Windows 7, but I can't get it to work.

Pretty sure you can. You can disable it entirely and download an old version (if you can find one?) and install it normally. I haven't done this on Win7 (as I never use it) but it worked on vista and XP.

That is, strictly untrue (I've had Media Player Classic and the latest installed at once). It can be done.
