Safe to update?
Maybe I asked in the wrong section, as no one has answered me yet. XD
So, the question was, my Wii has a 3.2U firmware right now and has updated from an original NTSC-U SSBB and played plenty of times. I also own an original NTSC-J copy of SSBB and now that my Wii has been modded, I'd like to play it. When I insert the disc, it asks me for accepting the update and I want to know if it's safe to update, will it brick my Wii or simply install duplicate news/forecast channels? Aside from playing backups, my original reason for modding was also being able to play original NTSC-J games. XD

yes you will brick your wii if you update from a ntcu-j and you wii is either pal/ntsc-u. what you have to do is run brick block on the iso image of ssbb to remove the update, because it trying to install 3.2-j

I'm not sure if this will work but try launching the the game with [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. I would like to know if it still asks for the update.

Nah, I did it already. I read in another forum that it was safe to do the update as long as the Wii's firmware is not under 3.1. By updating, it just duplicates me another news and forecast channels in japanese which are unusable; I'll try downloading the homebrew app that deletes them. Thanks for the suggestion though.

you can't delete them, if you do your wii will do another System update then the channels will be back.
