I get "initiating a wii system update" on a chipped wii - am i ok to contine??

Hi,

I have a chipped wii and have just bought a new game(an original). My wii keeps saying initiating a system update and that it may make my wii console inoperable if I continue

Am i ok to continue or will it mess my wii up??

if your Wii is PAL and you have a PAL game then there is no harm in updating, but if your Wii is NTSC and your game is PAL then DO NOT update as it will brick your Wii. You can use a tool such as wiu1.1 to remove the update from the iso before burning it.

well he said it was an original so that means that it is completely safe, for original games are completely harmless to the wii no matter what.

Just update from online, that's the safest thing to do.

Agreed, but also updating from an original in your own region is safe as well
