well i sent it to a repair shop and the guy helped me unbricked it by fixing the firmware via usb. However, upon opening the thing, we also discovered that the DvD drive was refurbished. The wires can be clearly noticed to having been resoldered plus their was a slight rust/dirt on the screws. Moreover, some screws were missing.

We're assuming the shop i got it from placed a recently repair dvd driver in the wii, which had previously had its original driver removed to fix another machine.

Lesson to be learn: never trust small shop vendors

yeah i would never buy a second hand wii, there still new and really i would just like a new one. Can't you return it from the guy you purchased from? well at least you got the wii working, i hope the guy that fixed the wii repaired the drive as well cos it's never a good idea to have missing screws
