What DVD discs to use - Wiihacks

Are there any recommended discs to use for burning games ??

I have tried TDK DVD+R's with 50% success,
and I have borrowed a Sony DVD+R and have had success with that one.

but can anyone recommend a brand and format that has proven to be ultra reliable with their burning.

The most recommended DVDs are Verbatim DVD-R, although personally everything i've burned on my sony DVD-R have worked, but I've had trouble with my sony DVD+R giving random disc read errors after the iso has loaded and run for a few minutes.

I have been using Sony DVD-R with not a single problem yet. I first started off with TDK and they were nothing but problems for me.

Everywhere I read though, Verbatim DVD-R seems to be the ones to get.

currently trying rivision dvd-r but having no luck tried 3 games with all having read errors might try burning at 4x and not 8x

FYI... I have replaced just over 7 lasers on units just over 1.5 years old.....(with in the last month)

seems like more are going to be coming in too..

they all used dvd brands with cheap dye......

if you're not using the better quality recommended dvd's ...will probably experience the same problem...in the future.... shorten wii laser life....or so it seems

I haven't had any problems with Verbatim DVD-R or DVD+R

I have a D2C with an Argon modchip and burn using Nero or Imgburn at 4x.

I don't know much about image laser readers, but it seems that if the laser is only reading a disk, how does the quality of the media impact the laser? Is the laser adjusted or more intense to read lower quality disks?

Also I think that alot depends on what burner you are using AND the media type you are using AND the speed you burn things at.

So far I have had 100% success rate with 2 TDK +R and 8 Verbatim -R using my NEC DvD drive burning, Imgburn at the slowest speed possible.

Bottom line is if you want good success along with wii laser longevity it seems....burn things SLOW and use good media. Spend the extra couple bucks and get the good stuff rather than cheap. It will save you money in the end.

and if you want the best choice of DVD discs. I would tell you to go get yourself some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs

yes ..burners do make a difference too .... people using different burners with the exactly the same media, iso,burning program with same settings will not have all the same results.
