cIOSCORP users will have issues after updating to system menu 4.2
This should help those who are affected.
There are two issues from this situation.
1- Cioscorp has altered the ios files and HBC refuses to install giving error:
"no vulnerable ios error"
2- The 4.2 update remove cios38rev14-ios249 and replaced with stub, which prevents the fix for problem #1 with error 1035 or other while installing IOS36-64-v1042.wad

This guide will reinstall cios38rev14-ios249 and the HBC
Cioscorp 3.5 should still function after completion of this guide.
If cioscorp is broken you may wish to update to 3.5 to fix- See [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
Or you may be interested in the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Step5 of this guide will result in an inverted HBC, you may wish to skip this step and uninstall cIOSCORP to avoid this issue. Or you may wish to keep cIOSCORP and fix this problem by installing [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] or less instead the the latest version.

All info in the guide is derived from our beloved [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], and [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Plus the addition of simple common sense, if I have any.

First download this file: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
Password = [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Since we are unable to install HBC, we will attempt to use [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] instead.

revision 3 (updated software links)

Triiforce is a Homebrew application that allows you to run WiiWare off of an emulated NAND backup of your Wii. I have read that repetitive writing to the NAND will cause bad blocks in the NAND memory and eventually wear out your Wii, but running an emulated NAND carries none of those risks. So why not just install a Wii Ware wad and move it to the SD card and run it from there? Well apparently, before the Wii can run it, it copies it to the Wii's NAND and runs it which is even worse than installing it directly to the NAND due to it writing it every time you load the Wii Ware game.

Another advantage to running Triiforce is that you can exceed the 512MB storage limit that the Wii has. Some Wii Ware wad files are close to 50MB and can quickly eat up your Wii's storage space preventing you from saving games.

After spending some time this weekend learning how Triiforce works, I thought I would share my findings. I haven't found many thorough user guides, so I thought I would make one.

***Triiforce MRC is not verified to work on SDHC cards. Currently there are conflicting reports of compatibility with SDHC cards. I am going to do some testing and report back.***

Please note that I am only covering SD side of Triiforce. Triiforce can also be setup to run off of a HDD, but I am not going to cover how that is done. Maybe in the future. I am also not the author of Triiforce, Triiforce MRC or any other software used in this guide so please give credit where credit is due.

What is required before using Triiforce
- A Wii
- cIOS 38 rev14 or higher already installed
- SD card (Using a 2GB SanDisk Class 2 for this guide) SDHC currently not supported

Required Downloads
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] - updated Nov 16th

Optional Downloads
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] (optional. Helps speed up wad conversion)
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] (comes in both x86 and x64 versions) - updated Nov 15th

NEW! - Now available in one easy to use package
- [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

(Copy the contents of the apps and WAD directories to your SD card. Copy the Windows Programs folder to your computer. Note that the AUTO SD LOAD .dol file is included in a .rar file in the triiforce directory. Also both x86 and x64 versions of SimpleFSDumper are included.)

Step 1. Creating a NAND Dump

1. The first step in this process is to get a NAND dump of your Wii. This is accomplished using the Homebrew application SimpleFSDumper.

2. Download the file from the links above. Rename the SimpleFSDumper0.2.dol file to boot.dol

3. Place the .dol file in a separate folder in the apps directory on your SD card (I named the folder SFSD).

4. Put the SD card back in your Wii and go into the Homebrew channel. SimpleFSDumper should appear in the list now.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

5. Load up SimpleFSDumper. You should get a black screen with some writing.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

6. I left the default IOS 249 selected and pressed A to let it run. You will see a bunch of text containing file names and sizes as the program dumps your NAND to your SD card.

NOTE: The NAND you get from this dump is a lot smaller compared to a NAND dump using BootMii. My BootMii NAND was around 520MB, but this NAND dump was only 98MB. This SimpleFSDumper only dumps what is necessary for this to run. (quoted from [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register])

Once it is done you will have all of the files necessary on your SD card.

If you are having problems getting the nand dump, try the method suggested on page 6 of this thread (Requires BootMii)

Step 2. Installing Triiforce

NOTE: Triiforce MRC is a GUI version of the original Triiforce. The download provided comes in two versions, the normal version (used in this guide) which lets you select the source or one that will auto load a USB source.

***Since there was no auto load from SD Card version, I made one. it is available here:*** [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] - Updated for Triiforce_MRC v7. (If you download this .dol, skip step 2-1 below.

1. Download the file provided in the links at the top of the guide. Open the zip file and rename the file triiforce_mrc_v7_by_marc.dol.dol to boot.dol.

2. You will need to create a Triiforce folder in the apps directory of your SD card.

3. Copy the boot.dol file you just renamed in step 2-1 to this folder.

NOTE: If you like your Homebrew applications to have icons, go to the link below and save the image to the same Triiforce folder as the boot.dol file.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Step 3. Installing Triiforce Forwarder

I prefer to launch the Homebrew applications that I use frequently from the Wii's main channel screen. In order to do that with Triiforce, we need to install a forwarder.

1. Download the forwarder from the link above and put the file in the WAD folder of your SD card. You will also need Wad Manager to install this to your Wii. If you do not already have WadManager, download the application from the link, rename the .dol file to boot.dol and place it in it's own folder in the apps directory of your SD card.

NOTE: If you want an icon to use in Homebrew for WadManager, go to the link below and save it (should have a file name of icon.png) in the same folder as the boot.dol file.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

2. Now go to the Homebrew channel and run WadManager.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

3. When WadManager opens, Press A at the disclaimer screen.

4. Make sure you have < IOS 249 > selected (this is what mine had selected by default and what worked for me).

5. When asked for NAND emulator device, leave it on the default < Disable >.

6. Make sure you have source device set to < Wii SD Slot >.

7. You should see the Triiforce WAD in the list. Press A to select whether to install or uninstall the WAD and make sure you select install WAD.

8. Once it is done, exit Wadmanager. When you go back to your system menu, you should now see Triiforce as a channel. (third one from left on the top row)

The forwarder.

Step 4. Installing Games to the SD Card

Next, we need to convert games into a format usable by the emulated NAND. For this, we will use the program wad2nand.

1. Download the Wad2Nand program and the Wad2Nand Batch file from the links above. Extract them to the same folder. You should have all of the files shown below. (excluding the Mega Man 9.wad)

2. As shown in the picture above, place a wad file into the folder with the Wad2Nand program files in it. You can place as many as you want.

NOTE: The purpose of the batch (.bat) file is to quickly process multiple wad files in the same directory. If you did not use the .bat file, you would have to use a command prompt, navigate to the folder where all of the files are, type in Wad2Nand followed by the name of a wad you want to process for EVERY WAD. The batch does all of this automatically.

3. Once you have the wad files you want to process in the folder, run the w2n.bat file. You should see a bunch of DOS prompts fly by full of code below). Wait until it is done processing. Just let it be. Don't do anything in the mean time.

4. Once it is done processing, you should now have a ticket and a title folder in the folder with the wad2nand program files in it.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

5. Inside these files will be some folders with binary names.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

6. Inside those folders are the files you need. (The title folder contains additional folders with names that match the files in the ticket folder.)
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

7. Select the folder named 00010001 in the ticket folder and copy it. Go to the SD card, open the ticket folder there and Paste the folder. You should be asked if you want to merge the folder with the other folder. Say yes. If you are not asked to merge the folder, copy the contents of the 00010001 folder shown in the above image into the 00010001 folder on the SD card.

8. Repeat the above steps for the files in the title folder.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Here is an example of what the 00010001 folder inside the title folder should look like. Each game has a unique name and appears in it's own folder.

If you are having problems running games, you can try the game installation method suggested on page 6 of this thread

Step 5. Getting Game Pictures in Triiforce

If you were to go and load Triiforce now, you will get a screen with a bunch of question marks on it where your game images should be (see below). Not exactly a nice way of picking a game, so we are going to get Triiforce to show some images instead.

1. Create a new folder on your SD card called triiforce_mrc. This is where the image files will be placed.

2. There are two ways to get image files: Download them or create your own. For the majority of Wii Ware games, the image packs you can download will cover them, but there may be some that are harder to find or don't exist.

Using an external USB hard disk drive improves the load and play speed of the game. Original Wii game discs spin at 6X; backup discs, in a softmodded Wii, spin at 3X. The USB HDD exceeds the speed of the original game disc and can eliminate problems with stuttering or choppy audio and or video from backup game discs.

The external USB HDD used by the Wii will be referred to throughout this tutorial as the Wii HDD to avoid confusion with the HDD associated with the PC. The entire Wii HDD volume can be formatted in the WBFS format for backup game use or one can create a number of partitions. Before partitioning your drive, think about the partitions you may need. As the PC does not recognize a WBFS-formatted drive, it is a good idea to have at least one partition in a format that allows your PC to access the Wii HDD. This partition(s) can be formatted as NTFS, FAT or FAT32 depending on intended use. Homebrew apps and USB Loader files can be stored on the FAT partition of the HDD instead of an SD card. Only the NTFS format will allow the PC to manage files >4GB.

Preparation

1. Follow one of the two excellent softmodding tutorials on this site:

If your Wii is 3.1-4.1 follow Dogeggs's tutorial:[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register][Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

If you have updated to 4.2, then messie's guide is the one to follow: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

2. If, after successful completion of the softmod, you did not download and install USB Loader GX and WBFS Manager 3.0; download from [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Note: WBFS Manager requires NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (the installer will prompt you to automatically download and install it if you don't already have it.)

3. Type of USB HDD
a. If you do not yet have an external USB HDD- get a Western Digital USB HDD.
b. You have an external USB HDD- check the compatibility of your HDD [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Formatting the HDD

Your HDD will probably come already formatted for "plug and play" compatibility with a PC:

1. Plug your new Wii HDD into a PC USB port

2a. From the WinXP: Right click on My Computer> Go to Manage>Click on Disk Management
2b. From Vista/Win7: Go to Control Panel> Administrative Tools>Computer Manager>Disk

3. With your disk drive loaded and visible: right click on the Wii HDD and choose to delete either the entire volume or a partition

4. Right click on new HDD in lower part or graphical portion of window and click New

5a. Choose to assign a letter to your new drive
5b. Choose NOT TO FORMAT when you create your new partition [note that you can choose size of partition-you can leave some to create additional partitions later
5c. Make your new partition PRIMARY and ACTIVE

WBFS Manager - Format Wii Drive and Adding Game ISOs

Run WBFS Manager 3.0 – Formatting the Wii Drive, drive partition, or USB Flash Drive

1. Select your new drive letter and press Format. If the drive does not show, Press Refresh Drive List

2. To add a game ISO to the WBFS-formatted drive or partition, press the Browse button on the lower right-hand window and locate your ISO.

3. Either double-click the ISO and the game title will now show in the WBFS Manager right-hand window. One can also use Windows Explorer and drag the ISO the the right-hand window. Repeat for multiple ISOs.

4. Select the game title(s) and press the Add button

5. The game(s) will now be added to the Wii HDD. Note that, as extraneous material is not copied to the Wii HDD, the file size will be smaller than 4.37GB.

6. After games have been added to the Wii HDD, clear the ISO list by selecting the game titles again in the right-hand window, and press Remove From List

Rip Game Directly from Disc to Wii HDD

1. Plug your Wii HDD into the OUTERMOST USB PORT (lower or left USB port depending on Wii position). Power up Wii, from the system menu activate USB Loader GX. Load USB HDD. To rip game disc from Wii, push (+) button and insert game disc into Wii drive.

To Play Wii Games from USB Loader GX

Global application settings can be changed by pressing the settings button identified in the above graphic.

Settings can also be set for an individual game; after the game is selected a game disc image will display and another settings option will be available-this time for the individual game.

To select a game from the list use the D-pad: Up/DOWN scrolls by 1 game; LEFT/RIGHT scrolls up and down by 9 game titles, respectively. The scroll bar can also be grabbed to move the highlight bar. Once the desired game is highlighted, press the A button and the game disc screen will display. At this menu, one can either play the game by selecting the disc or change game settings. In addition to the video, more information on USB Loader GX settings has been posted by WiiJohn [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Note for playing out-of-region games - first setting of choice is to set the Video Mode to force the video feed to your own region. Example: to play a PAL game on an NTSC Wii, set Video Mode to FORCE NTSC.

Optional

You can either use WBFS Manager or go back to your PC to format the non-WBFS partition if you chose to create one. Remember that while homebrew applications and USB Loader GX files can be recognized from the FAT partition, an NTFS-formatted partition is required to handle files > 4GB. Wii game ISOs are typically 4.37GB.

Other Loaders

NeoGamma can load games from the Wii HDD

Other USB Loaders include:[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], and [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].
