I'm looking to buy my first Wii and I have a local dealer, who sells Wii consoles with installed chip WITH warranty, then I would like to know, which I should get?

Wiikey2 or Drivekey?

The console with Wiikey2 is 40 dollars more than the one with Drivekey.

I tried reading on what is what - but all I got was something with what console I already have. But since I'm buying a new one with a chip installed already, I cant use those answers to much. :)

Look I am a newb, I am at the moment waiting for my Wii Key 2 chip so my brother can pin it into the Wii.(Not solder, I think clip)

Anyways here are my questions, and please do not refer me to another forum because I don't want to read loads on loads of threads of information that wasn't in their in the first place.

1. I have an old Wii version, I haven't updated it for a LONG time(firm ware that is), so when I put the Wii key 2 mod chip in, how do I play newer Wii Games ? I heard each game will update your Wii to the newest version or something. Do I need to download from the Wii key 2 website to download their custom firm ware from their website and NOT download the official firmware the Wii releases ? You can see the sort of questions and issues arising in this question, so if I missed a vital question to ask about this issue, please answer it.

I might repeat the same question as I really want to know what to do. Do I have to download Wii games that have 'updates/regions' removed, or can actually download a full wii released game with it's update and such built into the game ?

Or can I just simply put the Wii key 2 in my Wii and just download games and Bam that's it ?

Really out of everything my real worry is playing NEW games.

(And yes I am talking about backing up the games I already have incase this thread gets closed for any other reason.)

I am a total noob to Wii flashing, have flashed many other things FTA boxes GPS ect... but I have been reading for days now and soft modded my 4.0U wii to Dogeggs softmod tutorial and getting little success playing backups.

Well anyway can someone recommend a solderless chip that will be as hassle free as possible and that wont be obsolete in the near future thats is about $40-50? I am looking at the DriveKey Bundle at modchip-depot, I'd like to have the WasabiDx but am too impatient to wait on pre-order.

Tried to find an answer to this before bothering you all but couldn't.

Have recently purchased a brand new wii for the kids for Christmas. Am looking at fitting a modchip but this is where I'm stuck.

I've put my serial number into the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] and it says there is a 50% chance its a D3-2. I took the unit apart and sure enough there is no drive chip and the large chip has no writing on it. However the drive serial number starts with 'E' which I have read is a normal D3/D2nothing drive.

The thing that is confusing me the most is that the firmware is version 3.4. Surely if this unit was new enough to have a D3-2 drive fitted, it would have a newer version firmware than that.

I really need to identify which drive I have so that I know what my options for modding are. I realise I could probably softmod it, but this is a last resort as it will be used by two young children, who are likely to brick a softmodded wii.

Im coming home and want to try Little Kings Story/Boom Blox Bash Party, both cd's the WII cant read. ["Unable to read disk].

I burned the game on Vibratim disks. [the one that made in India though], on 4X speed, with Power ISO.

The reason they put the Sunkey because they said that they have hundreds of WII chipped everyday and the Sunkey giving the best resultes even on 4.2

I just got my wii yesterday from Malaysia, it was working properly ,, i found the softchip installed and it is the way i work the dvds,,, and then while i am playing it crashed ,, so i restarted the wii and i couldn't use the softchip anymore,,, i tried to change the ios ,, it was original ios249 and the softchip is R99,,,
my father got me one and my cousins too ,, and there wii is working properly with no problems so far,, so i copied there softchip on a SD card and deleted mine from my wii and tried to replace,,, it didn't work,,,,
then i tried to install another softship it didnt work too and gave me the same error ,,,,,

so please please please give me some help i spent the whole night reading and trying to understand how it works ,,

should i reset it and install the whole thing again from scratch ,, and i have also the homebrew channal already is there a way i can use it to read my DVD games???

Q2: What Mod-Chip can I use?
Q3: When I went to a place that sells Mod-chips he told me they have
only 2 chips, the D2Ckey and Wasabi DX, which is better for my
situation?

By the way the shopkeeper recomended D2Ckey because Wasabi DX

Im planning to buy a chip, but i dont know if its worth buying right now with this new update.

I want to mention that i dont care about the region free thing, i just want that my chip will play without a problems all my burned game on my specific region. [i wont backup also, i just want to make burned games to work].

Should i wait, or i can already buy ?
I wanted to buy the WiiKey 2 but i was fool enough to update my wii, so now i dont know what to do.
