Hello all,

Ok...First off let me tell you all the story.
Ok...First off let me tell you all the story.

My firend asked me to hack his wii since I had experience with that kind of thing I went ahead and tried to do this I followed this guide External Link Removed My friend said he was on 4.1U and I even checked and yet It was on 4.1U so I came back the next day and got the homebrew channel installed (not thinking about installing bootmii because I thought that It was impossible to brick because everything was done properly) then I went ahead and booted up wad manager and installed the cios, the wii restarted and went to a blank black screen. This was 3 years ago or something like that, the thing Is my friends wife installed 4.2U on It without telling me and so It bricked the Wii. No bootmii no preloader, no nothing. I was on Cios38rev17.

So what I'm asking Is, how am I able to get this Wii running properly again? I press the power button, the green light comes on the disc spins acting like It's booting the wii game but It's just a blank black screen. No flashing of the screen no nothing. No NAND backup either.

And to just clear myself I am considered a noob at this now, I havnt really touched a Wii or anything like that In a few years so I don't know much at all about the Wii scene.

Thanks for reading

Hello.

The title pretty much sums it up. I tried turning on my soft-modded Wii for the first time in a year and I am greeted with a black screen and and a green light. I am able to turn on the Wii with the Wiimote. I have bootmii installed, as there is a flash of blue light on power up followed by two quick flashes of LED light. Any suggestions as to the problem so that it can be diagnosed and solved? Thanks.

Couple things I failed to mention: Holding the reset button upon start-up doesn't do anything, and it is a launch Wii.

UPDATE: I am able to get to the Bootmii menu. Not sure what to do from here. The wiimote will not stay synced, if it is supposed to.

Hello.

I recently bought a Japanese Wii when i try to access the system settings i get a Opera error "You tried to access the address marc:JP/JP/JPN/ondex01.html"
from what i have read, i presume this means it's semi bricked. I think the Wii is running 4x> firmware as it has the SD icon.

When i try to install banner bomb i get error#004, from what i have read this may mean it's on 4.3? When i try to use letterbomb, i open the red letter and the whole thing just freezes up.

This Wii does not have the homebrew channel or anything else on it. Does any one have any ideas on how this can be fixed??
Background story:
Bought the wii on launch day about 6-7 years ago and gave it to my parents so I'm not sure which version they have it on now. Read that the only way to fix it is to have bootmii, homebrew, NAND backup, etc which I don't have for sure. Also read that if I don't have any of those previously mentioned installed, my console is pretty much completely dead and only way is to pay up and get it fixed/replaced at Nintendo.

Questions:
Is the only option I have to pay up and get it fixed? Also, this time I plan on installing homebrew and what not and was wondering if I can on any wii that I get replaced with or are there specific ones that I have to get for the homebrew to work?

I have never modded or softmodded it and it's been quite a while since I last used it. All of the data appears to be present and games seem to play, save, and load just fine. On occasion, the Wii sometimes locks up on the health warning screen (no Press A to continue and machine has to be powered off by holding the power button). I also have to manually power on the system -- the Wiimotes don't seem to do it anymore.

I don't have any idea what version of the system software is on the Wii, but the most recent game I've played is Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The perfectionist in me wants to fix it but the pragmatist says just leave it alone since it still (usually) boots and plays games. ;)

Is there a way to fix this without modding? Every thread I can find assumes the console is already modded or advises the user to mod the system. Or, should I just leave it alone?

Thanks!

All I know is that it's been hard moded some years ago, so I'm guessing the firmware version is around 3.X???

What do I?

Sry if this is in the wrong forum
Edit: Changed system menu to wii settings menu (as I used wrong naming)
