    FCE Ultra GX, black screen

Everytime I start a game in FCE Ultra GX the screen goes black (the tv says "no signal"). Everything works great before the game starts, I see the menus etc.
I think the game is running even though the tv is black cause the Wii remote is still connected and I can turn the Wii off with it.

I have been able to play before but havent done it in maybe 6 months. Dont think I have done anything special with my Wii since then.

What could it be? When I google I only find ppl with a simular problem but their Wii remotes gets disconnected so I dont believe it's the same problem.

I'm nowhere near my Wii right now to check but can't you change the video setting in the options? Maybe you are using the wrong one.

I think that was the problem. I have of course thought about that before but I couldnt find the video settings but now when you said it I assumed that it was only possible to access the video settings after a game had been loaded. So I just reset all settings to default and now it works.
Why isn't it possible to access the video settings from the "base menu"?

    Thanks anyway!

A good question that could probably only be answered by Tantric.

This exact thing is now happening to me. I get a signal up until i select a game. Now its more than just the nes emu. its snes, turbo grfx 16, genesis.... all emu's. All I did was change my settings in my wii to 16:9. i will have to see about reseting everytning on the wii like djwiizard

The problem is your video settings. Those emulators can use original video mode to make the games looks exactly as they did on the original console . This video mode is unfortunately not well supported by modern TV (LCDs, etc), especially if you are using component video cable. The result is generally a black screen with the audio still being played . Emulator menus use default interlaced video mode (480i) so there isn't a problem in menu, only when playing emulated game.

The solution is either to use appropriate video cables or to change the emulator video settings to use progressive/interlaced video mode. Read specific emulator user manual for more details on how to do that.
