    I'm personally waiting for Time Killer support for the wii but I doubt it will happen. I guess that's why I own a PC.

    hi well i downloaded mine from homebrew and it puts mame folder in root of the sd card and puts sdlmame-wii in the app folder. the rom folder is put into the sdlmame-wii folder.... no idea why the homebrew is not putting the files in there proper place then.

    im gonna try it now and see if it works for me thanks.

    ok im back. i tried with the mame folder in root and i get missing roms eventho i have 2 roms in .zip format in the roms folder and then when i move mame folder into the sdlmame-wii folder the emu wont start it just kick me back to the home brew chan

    Are you using an old version of MAME by chance or is it one you've recently downloaded via the homebrew browser? Also what ROMS are you trying to play? I don't know every ROM that plays on the wii version of MAME but there is at least 450+ supported. MAME is really picky about how they are named also. I guess potentially you could have gotten a bad download and something failed in the download / extraction process. I've only used the homebrew browser a few times so I'm no expert on it but I guess there is potential fail there like any other data downloaded off the internet. Rather than moving files around why don't you just delete all associated files and start over fresh. I've had to personally do that several times with many apps in my trial and error process of learning the wii. Sorry if this is kind of a scatterbrained post but it's late for me and I'm kind of shooting in the dark here with out the actual wii and SD card in question to play with.

    thanks i finally got it to work and to be honest this emu works much better than i expected. tho it would be awesome if it had a more friendly user GUI but many of the games i wanted run very very nice like TMNT / TMNT turtle in time/ simpsons/ xmen/ battle toads!/ i will defiantly be checking out other games that work on it.

    You're not going to get them to work because they are not compatible. From the wiibrew site,"If you don't see the ROM in the list in the emulator, then support for that ROM isn't included. This is to keep the size of the emulator low enough to run effectively on the Wii.". The wii is never going to be able to run a lot of the latter arcade games especially if they are 3D like Tekken or Time Crisis because it's just not powerful enough. You're better off sticking with old 2D classics that will work rather than trying to get more modern games to work that will never run.

I haven't noticed any choppiness yet even in games that like to load the screen with tons of sprites but that's not to say it isn't possible. I think the longest load time I might have is on some of my larger games like 5-10 seconds at most. Compatibility is a bit of an issue given the limitations of the wii but you can run most non-problematic arcade games up until the mid 90's. The current version is 0.5 and you can download it from the Google Code site Downloads - sdl-mame-wii - Project Hosting on Google Code. Mame is supposed to be USB compatible but I've only been able to get it running properly on an SD or SDHC card. On my current set-up it is running on a 4GB micro SDHC W/ adapter. My only problem with mame on the wii is there is a 150 game limitation. Also remember to keep your roms zipped. My file Structure is as follows:
    ->apps
    ->sdlmame-wii
    ->docs
    ->config
    ->license
    ->mame
    ->newvideo
    ->windows
    ->boot.dol
    ->icon
    ->meta
    ->README
    ->mame
    ->cfg
    ->Your game configs will save here
    ->nvram
    ->Your game nvram will save here
    ->roms
    ->Place you roms here
    ->errors
    ->mame
    ->ui.bdc
    ->ui.bdf
    I extracted to sd, and I am not showing the nvram folder. I also get an error when trying a supported rom. It says I am missing 1 or more rom or chd images. Can I just make the nvram folder? What do I do for the error?

    nvram will automatically create itself when you launch a game with the application. MAME is a real fickle emulator just as it is on the PC. You have to make sure you have all of the required files (Not necessarily all game related, some can be hardware related) zipped into one file and named correctly. The MAME site gives a better description than I am able to. I am willing to help people with all of the required files to play a game as long as I know them if members want to list specific games. However...I am unable to provide links to the required files because that would be in direct violation of the site rules.

    I am new to all of this but have found that the emu works great on my wii. I have a cab at home that I play MAME on but prefer to sit in front of the TV. That being said, there are certain games that I can't get to work that ARE in the list of working roms, Like Galaga, Dig Dug, 1941 and 1942.

    anyone know what i'm doing wrong? I get an error saying that the rom is missing files, but I know it isn't cause they work on my PC.
