A drive letter can be changed at will and has no bearing on which partition or what type it is assigned to or what order it appears.

I can assign any letter I want (save for A, B & C as that tends to interfere with system functions on a Windows Machine) to a 3 partitioned drive, so a drive with FAT32 - WBFS - NTFS could be assigned drive letters Z for Fat32, X for WBFS & Y for NTFS.

But the best way for a Wii 3 partitioned USB HDD is FAT32 - WBFS - NTFS in that order, and choose any letter you want.
true, but the default is in alphabetical order. im assuming if he didn't know how to figure out which partition was which, he wouldn't know how to change drive letters lol

ALL my wii games /emulators/roms are on the HD ... i have experienced no lag ...
no, im not running homebrew channel off my HD sorry for the miscommunication the apps that i run off HBC are on my external. HBC IS installed as a channel, but i experience a LOT of lag as well as a few of the apps not working. any reason why this would be? for now i just have the HD for my WBFS partition and for media for my media player. homebrew apps are on the SD card. also, i saw on craigslist someone selling a wii with a USB hub that said something like "now you can have more than two usb ports!" idk if it works. kinda scared to go out and buy one to be dissapointed

p.s. a little off topic but i cant get the NeoGeo emulator to work off the homebrew channel. ive soft modded a few wiis and cant get it to work. and in some cases bootmii doesnt work in the HBC channel. i usually have o ghetto rig the pre loader to run the .bin files that i need to un/install ISOs. its not horrible id just like some input if possible.

its not that i dont know how to check .. thats basic stuff ... i didnt feel like taking the time as i didnt think it mattered ... when i first got the drive i made 3 diff partitions
    wbfs, fat32, and ntfs

    i've never had a problem

    Sega Genesis update

    YouTube - bladexdsl's Channel

not been officially released yet but works fine here, now allows loading roms and saves to USB drive!

    do a search for genplusgx_r355.dol

download, rename to boot.dol and replace exsisting boot.dol within genplusgx

Dont know if this helps somebody but i will post it. I have softmodded 4.2e and im loading emulator roms from usb disk. I have 500GB Toshiba set up like this. cca 300GB for wii games (first partition - WBFS), second is cca 150GB NTFS partition for movies and stuff and last one partition is cca 50GB FAT32 for emulator roms. this last one is set to ACTIVE so this is needed for emulators load roms from usb.

    Question Atari 7800

I have had no problems with any of my emulators (Atari 2600, Coleco, NES, SNES, SMS, Sega GG, Genesis, N64, MAME) on a USB WD Passport..... EXCEPT FOR the Atari 7800.

The 7800 emulator runs fine off of the SD card. With the USB HDD, although it loads up nicely, when I press the A button to "Load cartridge" it says "Error opening roms directory". If I press the A button again, I get an error screen which I have attached... anyone know why??
