Question Snes9x GX and FCE Ultra GX just refresh my homescreen?

My Wii has been running the Homebrew Channel and backups through WiiFlow fine for more than a year after I followedGuide: Softmod ANY Wii. My System Menu is 4.3 and I am running IOS 58.

I downloaded from WiiBrew, extracted, and manually copied the apps folders of Snes9x GX and FCE Ultra GX to my SD Card and then installed both of their channels through the Homebrew Channel. Unfortunately when I start either my Homescreen just reloads. I think I had one or both working in the past before I deleted the files associated with them from storage - roms and/or apps. My roms are currently located in the roms directory in the root directory of my USB HDD.

Please advise what I can do to fix.

Also, on a side note, if you have experience, would you recommend the Wii Classic Controller or the Wii Classic Controller Pro, and is there any point in ordering more than two? I cannot remember if there were any 4 player NES or SNES games but maybe they would be worth having for MAME...

Your directory structure on your sd card should look like this:

    sd:/apps/{app_name}/boot.dol

with any other supporting files in the same subdirectory or in subsequent other subdirectories of {app_name}. That's the first thing you should check.

If that looks right, post a syscheck, we can look to see if your mod looks current or not.

As for your other question, I prefer the CC Pro. It has a feel more like a Dual Shock controller and has the power/data cord at the top instead of the bottom, which I always found to be strange. There is a handfull of 4-player games on NES, but they required an external device to convert the 2 plugs into 4, which I'm not sure the emulators would even emulate properly.

Thanks for the reply, but I am really sorry, it seems this time around I have just installed the two channels, rather than the channels and the actual emulators! I will confirm this evening when I can sit down with it. I can only hope someone else who makes this mistake sees this thread and learns from it.

On the CC Pro, do you just have two yourself then? I am just curious about when you have company etc, maybe it would be nice to have the option for four to play MAME, GeoGx or other emulators?

Also, we already have four Wiimotes and four Nunchucks, and I have RGH Coolrunner and DemoN dual NAND chips waiting for XBOX 360 install - I know this is a Wii forum, but maybe investing in two (or four) CC Pros would be a waste of money if the XBOX 360 can emulate everything the Wii can... I could just use the Wii for playing Wii backups...

I did buy two Classic Controllers back in 2007 when I got my Wii, but really only ever used one at a time, even with three kids.

I bought a Classic Controller Pro when it was available to have a total of three Classic Controllers. Still don't think I ever used more than one.

Are you trying to launch the emulators from an installed channel / forwarder? or trying to launch them from HBC? If from a channel, first try from HBC to make sure the emulator is installed properly and works. Once you know that works, then you probably just need to find the correct forwarder (or just continue to launch it from HBC).

I think I will buy two or three CC Pros, there are at least two of us living here that would play two player, one other that will hopefully join in sometimes, and it would also be cool to play with friends when they are over.

Both emulators and channels work fine now they are installed properly, thank you very much for the help. I have some questions on MAME and GxGeo now but it would probably be good board etiquette to put those in their own thread which I am doing now.
