Thumbs up DVD media Brands..... and stuff

some friends picked up memorex dvd 16x blanks in the 50 packs for $14 and change from RCSS..last week...good deal!!! I got a few dvds of them and was going to burn a movie...when my prog read the blank disc info...

    However it even gets better!!!

Memorex does not manufacturer their own dvd blanks.... the name memorex is the brand name on the dvds only. To our surprise...we found this:

    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B DL11 (ATA)
    Current Profile: DVD-R

    Disc Information:
    Status: Empty
    Erasable: No
    Free Sectors: 2,297,888
    Free Space: 4,706,074,624 bytes
    Free Time: 510:40:38 (MM:SS:FF)
    Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 8x, 16x

    Pre-recorded Information:
    Manufacturer ID: RITEKF1

    Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
    Disc ID: 0@P-!-00
    Book Type: DVD-R
    Part Version: 5

It is actually manufactured by Ritek. besides Ritek... theres Ridata and TY's
those are the 3 most wanted medias for use in your modded consoles.

so the rcss memorex 50 pack dvd-r 16x are made by Ritek. That doesnot mean that all memorex media is made by ritek at all...in fact far from it.

They went back and bought 10 packs of 50 that day..lol
so if you are going there to get some....might be a good ideal to get 1 pack 1st and id them.... b4 going back and buying alot more. Next shipment may be a different manufacturer altogether....

Tip for all would be burners.

Use a disk with dark ink on.

    The darker the better.

    Finda Arita disks work well

I have noticed darker ink works better, namely purple works better than blue. Does anyone know why this is? It seems logical that darker is easier to read, but pressed discs are silvery/grey? Just curious if anyone has an answer

    Hi,

When i am burning Wii games on DVD's i always go for DVD-r. It somehow preforms better than the DVD+r. I use the Verbatim DVD's. :P and talking about he printing , they don't have any print at all , just the name really faint on the top part. I use a Lg-GSA-E40N external for burning. Had worked fine for me in the past and hope it stays that way in the future.
