I've just bought a wii with wiikey pre-installed.
I'd like to be able to use the wii primarily for copied games, but also maybe divx/xvid or DVD.
I'm finding downloading wii torrents very slow, and alot of the torrents are blocked through private trackers (eg blackcats.net) that i think i'd rather avoid. Even if they ever get fast they'll still take a sizeable chunk out of my download quota.
I don't have an LG drive, or a Gamecube memory to SD converter thing.
So whats the best way to get hold of some games, and/or relatively simple way of watching DVD / divx - i don't want to dive into the whole linux malarky and want to keep things simple.
Does anyone know of any companies that will send out / export backed up games?
Do you think any future wiikey firmware updates will make dvd/divx easier?
Do you think non-LG drives will be able to read / rip the wii games?
Do you think there will be a way around having to use the gamecube memory card to sd card - perhaps straight to SD card?
Any suggestions welcome - cheers

buy a drive!
i got my GDR-8164BK DVD-ROM (16x DVD, 52x CD) - GDR8164BK from buy.com
..it was only $21.99 plus shipping for $7.02 and then i used google checkout and saved $10 so it only cost me $19.01. I don't have a chip yet but i am looking at the wiikey now.
I did manage to get an iso from a game so far, but can't burn it because my burner is on the fritz and my new on comes wednesday.
then try renting games

I downloaded a couple of games - 1 was Gamecube game (1.35gb ISO) which i burnt on a 4.7gb DVD-R - didn't work
The other was a wii game - once unzipped it was a .wii file (not an ISO file) which basically means it has to be unscrambled using Rawdump 2.0 or Unscramble 04 - I got an error whilst using Rawdump and I can't figure out how to use Unscramble.
Oh well, I guess I'll come across the solution sooner or later

Easy way to do this is to drop the raw iso to a main drive such as c: rename it to something simple like test.
Drop the unscrobbler program there as well saves hunting round teh hardrive for it.
Then you goo to the start menu and use teh run command and type "C:\unscrambler.exe test.wii game.iso"
Test being teh Raw dump you want to convert and the game.iso is the output file you burn to a dvd.
It will bring up a command promt screen with something like scanning and a load of numbers on it.
Leave this to finish.
One this is done you will have two large files ones the orignal raw image and the new one is a ISO to burn to disk.
And just burn the new file to disk

I don't recommend purchasing backups online through the mail. If you are not willing to download, your best bet is to search forums or just through word of mouth from people who have wii backups in your area.

imagine what would happen if this thread stayed this way and there are a 100's of posts saying or asking different questions.
most of these questions belong in or are ALREADY answered in other existing threads...where they really should be.
please before you post a question...you must search through the appropriate threads for an answer first....then and only then should you post your question and then in the proper thread and if there is none then you are free to...start one... in the proper section.... thanks.
