strong theory is that the Wii's internal laser is an LG.

is "HP LG GDR-8161b" same as "LG GDR-8161b" ?

on ebay I see a lot of "HP LG GDR-8161b" drives, are these the same as the LG GDR-8161b listed above? on the auction, it says it's by LG made for HP.
    thanks.

LG makes drives for the entire computer industry. The most important part is the model number, not the aftermarket stickers / badging.

Hey, I downloaded some games on torrents, and don't know what to do with the ISO files.

Do I really have to purchase those drives before I can do anything? Or might I already have one, having windows XP Professional?

When I open ImgBurn and select my .iso file and speed, it says Device Not Ready, Medium Not Present. But then I insert a Verbatim DVD and it says (in the process of becoming ready), and then after nothing happens, it just goes back to "device Not Ready," so I can't click the file to disc.

Sorry about being so noob, but any help would be really appreciated, thanks a lot.

So do I have to place the contents of the RawDump along with the .iso file and burn them all on the DVD-R?

just the .iso file. that's all you're worried about.

(I'm not looking for an explanation on wifi dumping, I've already done it once before and just want to make sure that I'm not making a mistake in doing so.)

Also you said No DVD+R discs. So far I've burned 2 games using DVD+R (office Depot brand) and although I haven't played all them all the way through yet, I have no problems so far. Should I re-burn them using DVD-R? will playing through with the +R discs hurt anything, or is it just that usually the +R's typically don't work at all and that's why you say to use -R?
I'm not convinced dumping via Wifi would hurt the Wii drive, at least no worse than using it for DVD playback. And if DVD+R works for you then it's fine, but many have issues even getting a +R to load up.

    FWIW ...

From what I have read it seems the Verbatim -R disk reduce the amount of work the Wii drive has to do to read a disk so this could be one of the main factors for using these disk ... I'm sure other disks work but then the Wii drive may have to work harder and then in due course it may fail as a result.

With regards to dumping via wifi then this will work but the Wii drive will have to work for about 3 hrs without; in my opinion, very good cooling ... unlike a conventional computer, which again cannot be good for the Wii's drive and then in due course it may fail as a result.
