Yeah, I tried searching for an answer, but couldn't find any... I am just gonna give it a try, then.
Only, when I insert a backed up Wii game in my PC drive, it reacts the same way as when I insert an original game (no error message, but no contents to be found in Windows Explorer, either)...
Try ImgBurn MODE READ then to burn MODE WRITE (It is freeware)

What's the technical reasoning for not being to copy original Wii game DVDs? Is there a copy protection like on original movie DVDs?
all i know is that its how the wii game discs are read compared to your standard dvd's hence there being only 5 LG GDR drives which can read the data
check here Wii Media Compatibility Chart - Nintendo-Scene Wiki
the only other thing to try is doing them at various speeds

Hmmm, is the Wii Media Compatibility Chart at the Nintendo-Scene Wiki valid for all modchips, or just the Chiip one?
Future wii games
this sounds like an excellent way to backup your games if you have one of the stated LG drives. but does anybody think that future wii game releases will somehow null and void this method? that nintendo will somehow make the new games not readable under these drives.
*Update* i just received my HP LG GDR 8163b off of ebay. works great. only paid $23, shipping was free, and has a 30 day warranty. there are many, many, many of the stated models on there, and most pretty cheap. this was the usa ebay.

Well, really, I play Wii Music off of a DVD+R disc, and it works completely fine. The only problem is that I have to run it off of Gecko OS. Which isn't much of a problem; if you ask me.

Someone Please Help. I'm new to all of this
I've read every post on this thread and believe or not I'm still confused.
1. Do I need one of them LG drives to burn the game or just dump it. Or does will any burner work? (I have Emprex)
2. I downloaded Madden 09 Pal iso and burnt it using nero on a Memorex DVD-R at 2X speed.
I put it in the Wii (which is 3.2E HBC installed and Softmii installed) and it recognised the game on the main menu, started it up and it gets to loading screen (in the actual game) and then I get an error saying Disk read error...
What did I do wrong?
CD? Burner? Wii? Maybe ISO?
