I doubt the pc will do it. The drives are quite rare.... If the wii is capable of reading backups then just use the usb loader to rip them from the disc.

Sorry just saw your thread title.

The answer is no then..... No software available....
I'm pretty sure he means (DVD-R or CD-R) discs with .iso files burned to them.

The simple solution is to check the contents of the disc and grab the .iso, or to use IMGBurn or another image-burning program to get it.

You don't need an LG Drive to read BACKUP Discs on a computer. As long as it can read a disc, it'll work. Just not retail Wii Discs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I have a problem. I am an expat and had all my games backed up to disks before moving from the states. All my back ups worked fine until I upgraded to a new black wii. I have since backed up my backups to my hdd on the new will. Only problem, two of my backup disks will not read in my computer nor in my black wii to copy it to my hdd. I don't know what the problem is as it is a dvd-r and I thought was burned in wbfs but I seem to be wrong on these two specific games (Mario Party 8 and Super Smash Brothers Brawl). It is like somehow they got burned in wii format, if that is even possible. I am really trying to prevent spending a crap load of money to have my originals shipped to me. Also, having to explain to a 5 year old why they can't play them is no fun. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If your drive is supposed to read DVD's and it doesn't read those two games, they are almost certainly corrupt. You're black Wii will not read the disks because of the newer drive. You're going to need the originals.

Or since you own the originals, you could have a friend upload them to you via bittorrent; there's a guide here at Wiihacks under Forum -> WiiHacks Tutorials -> All About Downloading -> Torrent Clients.
Learn from the mistakes of others; life's too short to make them all yourself:
