Wii freezes during any game rip

Hi All, I've had my wii softmodded for a while and i finally picked up a usb hard drive to store my games on and I'm having a problem while ripping them to the drive. I've tried multiple games, and ripper apps and they all seem to do the same thing. At around 55% (52-55% is the range i've seem) they all seem to lock up the wii and i have to hold down the power button until it powers off to reboot it.

I just updated to the latest softmod with
mauifrog's guide last night and gave it a try again and still no go. I've tried cfgusbloader, uloader, and cleanrip. I've tried 5 different games. The hard drive seems to work for everything else that I've put on it (emulators, and HomeBrews)

The drive is a seagate free agent go formatted fat32, it's labeled as working well on gbatemp, I've used the software to disable the drive spin-down. I copied a ISO onto the drive to test it and all the loaders load the game so i don't think it's a bad drive.

I searched the fourm's and couldn't find anything like this posted so i'm hoping that someone out there has an idea of where i should look next.

    Thanks!!

Maybe your cIOS are out of date. Try posting a syscheck.

Try a different usb cable. Don't ask me why but some cables do that.

I had the same issue and found a thread on here about it awhile back. changed my usb cable and it worked perfectly.

    Just a suggestion.
