if you have 3.3+ its because u cant brick block

if its 3.2 you need a special layer break

    Search
    "brawl layer break"
and then burn with that, it doesnt work without

Also, just to add, it is possible depending on your version/age wii that you may need to do the "laser pot tweak" or send it to nintendo to have it done.

To check the firmware version of your wii just go to the settings menu in the wii and it'll show in the corner of the screen.
have you tried playing it from gecko OS? Because it sounds like a trucha signing issue since you say that it's 4.37GB. SSBB is a dual layer image when in full version. The full image is 7.85GB for PAL. Gecko OS may help with trucha or region issues, not always though.
So, full version game from your own region is always the safest bet for playability. Not sure if you mean that the 4.37 GB version is the one working for you or not.
The dirty disc error does occur when the laser pot tweak is needed. It happened on mine right before i fixed it with ssbb, but that doesn't mean that's what the issue is for sure either because you can get that error for other reasons too like the one's admiral mentioned.

admiral: you can't put a layer break on a single layer image. He's got a scrubbed version of ssbb.
derbyed: what i meant was get the full version of the game hopefully PAL as well to make it easiest. you cannot make that 4.37GB version whole again. I'm assuming it's the one with the movies ripped out. Before you get the full version you may want to try booting the game from Gecko OS. You can find info on how to install and run that in the tutorials section here. Search for tutorials on how to install "homebrew browser" first there to make it easier it this is the route you're taking. I can't promise that Gecko OS will work for your ssbb problems but even if not it may help with some other game in the future, up to you though.

4.37GB is a single layer image. No it will not decompress. You have the wrong one. The image you want is 7.85 GB PAL. find that one and when you burn it set the layer break to 2084960 like admiral said. That should solve all your problems.
All burning that 4.37GB version to a dual layer disc will do is waste the space on the blank and your money because dl blanks cost more.
