    Dvd-r Research

So I have some games on my computer, that need to be downloaded. I went to the walmart today to get a stack of verbatim's and no dice, they had none. Im not a fan of memorex, or maxell (too many coasters made!)from my ps1 and ps2 burning days.

Now ever since I started into playing backups on my ps1 and ps2 I have used sony cd, and dvd-r's. No problems at all, Ive yet to have a game that i have burnt years ago, not work. I use sony's for movies also.

I was thinking though maybe the wii laser is a little different, so that led me into researching into some different types of dvd-rs, mainly sony, cause for the longest while thats what I have used!

Anyways at first I was a little hesitant to try the sony's,(guy that installed my chip told me to stick STRICTLY with verbatim's but kinda changed his opinion when I was yapping with him about how i had good luck with sony's on my ps2) but my personal success rate with my ps2 games (over 200) got the better of me, and I tried one disc, so far haha. So far so good, I always burn slow, and let JUST the burning program run (weird to some but thats the way Ive always burnt discs!) (my ps2 is also one of the first ones that came out, has an earlier chip to it, original laser)

So anyways I am going to try the sony's for awhile, and hope for the best. There is a few links that i would like to add also, and its a nice sum up of some researching I did on different brands! Mods if links arent allowed, please let me know, and Ill add the brands in a list.

    Thanks man.

Feel free to add anything, opinions for and against anything in the links or that I have posted! ( as a reputable modchip seller your personal knowlege would be great to hear!)

I have just read a billion (ok not quite a billion ) different posts on people asking questions about differing dvd-r qualitys, thought it would be handy in one thread

Thats interesting that you recomend a pioneer burner. I havent loking into that yet, as ive always been a LG burner guy.

Is there any specific reasons that a pioneer 111 is recomended?

Have you tried any other brands of discs for wii games, or other "stuff" you burn?

I havent played with different burning programs yet, and i doubt I will. Imgburn seems to work just fine, and ive used it before.
I do use alcohol, nero, dvdfab, and a few others for different things. Seems like each program is a little better at one thing then the next one, and a little worse at some things.

Since most games are just image files, im sure other programs would work, but if it aint broke, dont fix it right!

I swear by Sony's. Not one problem ever with movies or wii games. Verb's for the 360 though.
