    Some burned cds won't work anymore. <-- Really, and I thought it played DVDs only

    Hi! i need help! my wii can play burned cds, but ever since i inserted a original game (guitar hero), some of my old burned cds wont play anymore. all the new burned cds i bought wont play either. so now i can only play a few old burned cds. is it my wii or the cd that has a problem? thanks!

    Wii plays only original games and dvd-r. not CDs.
    what's the version of your Wii console now ?
    4.2x would resist you to play pirates.....

    okay so its dvd-r not cd. i don't really know about the version. when i played the original game, the wii updated then after that some of my pirated games no longer plays but there are few pirated that still works. my brother told me that i need to have it modify again. what do you think?

    sounds about right to me. I know of many people who had new games for xmas. updated their wii, with disc updated, If you re mod using one of the guides on this site, follow the whole guide and install priloader and block disc and online updates, once bitten twice shy!

    You might want to step back from using the words my pirated games on the forum too. Piracy is against our rules. If they are legitimate backups of games you own call them just that...backups.

    hey guys, this is doin my head in so im askin for help which i do not like to do! i have soft moded my wii, which is about 2/3 years old now. for some reason i have gained copies of various games via isos. I have wii sports which i put onto a disk, this works fine, however for example james bond and grand slam tennis do not even load for some reason. I have tried to install missing ios from forums suggested, I have also used the dark corp thing which i personally feel has done nothing, and its still comin up with error 1178, if anyone could help i would be so greatful, im pullin my hair out here!

    How old are the non-working backups and what brand of DVD was used for the backup?

    He probably uses floppy discs since he mentions CDs, lol.

    they are maxwell dvd-r I changed the burn speed to 2x for goldeneye, i now can play goldeneye with no problems, however other games for example scarface and grand slam tenns still do not work, the back ups are not even a week old and i have tried various burn speeds as this solved the problem with goldeneye, i have tried using neogamma no result, and also have the dark corp installed so when i put a disc in a know straight away if it has woked, if someone could help me as i have only moded and learnt about all of this business a few days ago! thanks

    Maxell used to use quality media or media makers; nowadays, I believe you'll find'em all CMC MAG (a bottom tier junk media producer) and should be avoided. Just like Fuji; if they said "Made in Japan" they were Yudens --- nowadays, all junk.
